PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE RNCM’S GIFT TO MANCHESTER: 40 FREE CONCERTS - 40 DIFFERENT VENUES Over the next seven months, from Thursday 29 November until Sunday 16 June, the Royal Northern College of Music presents RNCM in the City; a gift to Manchester of 40 free concerts at 40 venues throughout the city. Forming part of our 40th anniversary celebrations, RNCM in the City is a unique series that takes the music we make out into the community, reaching new audiences and enabling those who continue to support the College and its students to experience the RNCM in a different setting. Featuring RNCM students, including members of our Junior school, and alumni, RNCM in the City includes everything from performances at churches, museums and cafes, to hotels, amphitheatres, pubs and clubs. Talking of the project, Abigail Collins, Professional Engagements Manager at the RNCM, said: ‘I am delighted that so many fantastic venues have agreed to host a performance as part of RNCM in the City. It’s so exciting to see our vision of marking the College’s 40th anniversary by giving something back to the city being realised. Due to the diversity of locations, range of performances and style of music on offer, I hope everyone feels there is something accessible to them.’ RNCM in the City launches on Thursday 29 November with a concert at Manchester’s Town Hall featuring students on our International Artist Diploma course. Following this, December welcomes performances at the Christmas Markets (St Ann’s Square), Surestart Longsight, Gorton Monastery, The Gaskell’s House and MediaCity UK, while the New Year brings Band on the Wall, Manchester Reform Synagogue, Whitworth Art Gallery, Sacred Trinity Church and a concert at the Imperial War Museum North in recognition of Holocaust Memorial Day.
