CLAUSES FOR SPECIFIERS: Production of Exposed Aggregate Concrete
EXPOSED AGGREGATE CONCRETE:
For where an exposed aggregate finish is required for concrete with strength of up to and including
20MPa. (Cut and paste clause below into you specification)
All concrete for which an exposed aggregate surface is required shall be treated with Rockbond
Surface Retarder according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Once the required time has
elapsed the surface shall be treated as directed by the manufacturer’s instructions and best
environmental practice to produce the exposed aggregate finish.

For where an exposed aggregate finish is required for concrete with strength of over 20MPa and up to
35MPa AND/OR high temperatures are expected. (Cut and paste clause below into you specification)
All concrete for which an exposed aggregate surface is required shall be treated with Rockbond
Surface Retarder Plus according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Once the required time has
elapsed the surface shall be treated as directed by the manufacturer’s instructions and best
environmental practice to produce the exposed aggregate finish.

For where an exposed aggregate finish is required, on a surface that is against form work. (Cut and
paste clause below into you specification)
All formwork which forms a surface for which an exposed aggregate surface is required shall be
treated with Rockbond Vertical Surface Retarder Plus according to the manufacturer’s
instructions. Following the removal of the formwork the surface should treated in accordance
with the manufacturer’s instructions and best environmental practice to produce the exposed
aggregate finish
