A meeting with the advisory committee is called to discuss (a) whether the student is ready to go forward. The advisory committee, under leadership of the major advisor, develops four comprehensive questions in the major area of study that are to be answered in essay form by the doctoral student. Students may take one week to complete each question for a total of four weeks to complete all four.
