If your chosen ancestor’s Temple work has not
been done. Prepare their records and print a
form for temple submission.

If your chosen Ancestor’s temple work has been
done, research through their decendancy line
and find one of their Decesdents who have not
had their work done. Prepare their records and
print a form for temple submission.

If your chosen Ancestor’s work has been done,
and no descendency temple work can be found.
Continue to search through your line and their
descendants to find temple work that needs to
be done within your family lineage. Prepare
one of the records and print a form for temple
submission.
Upload or start your own tree
Talk to Parents & Grandparents –
ask them to tell you stories of your
ancestors. Listen for those who
may have been actual pioneers or a
pioneer in their own circumstance.
Record their names on the back.

Take your Temple Submission Form to the
Temple and get Ordinance Cards printed.
Go the temple, do Baptismal and
Confirmation ordinances for those ancestors
whose cards you have. (Consider praying for
them and yourself beforehand; you may even
want to Fast prior to your time in the temple
to do their ordinances.)
Have someone in your family or ward take
the Ordinance cards to the temple and
complete the other ordinances for your
ancestors prior to trek departure.
Verify that the temple work is recorded and
appears accurately on your tree in Family
Search.
Continue to search out and do temple work
for your ancestors…YOU ARE A PIONEER!

Go to the LDS Overland Travel Database.

Locate your ancestor, click on their name. Click on
and read through the sources associated with your
ancestors experience. Copy those of interest to
you; or those that will help build a biography of
their life. Watch for additional information such as
personal journals or articles housed in different
libraries or locations. Click on them and request
copies.

Research and read about your ancestors Pioneer
experience. Copy or Record information that is
especially interesting to you and/or could be used
to write a biography of their life.
----------------------------------------Getting to know the Ancestor I Chose
Log into “MyHeritage.com”.
Search the periodicals to see if you find any articles
that mention your ancestor.
Look at the research hints that come up for your
ancestor in “Ancestry.com”
Link any information you find in these two
programs to your tree in Family Search.
Talk to your parents first and then, if your ancestor
was a baptised member of the church in this life,
request a copy of their patriarchal blessing to see if
they recieved one and what type of council it
contained.
- Go to LDS.org, in the top right hand corner, click
on “Teachings” then “Gospel Topics” then “Browse
Alphabetically” then “P”, then “Patriarchal
Blessings”. In the bottom right hand corner there
is link to “Request a deceased Ancestors Blessing”.
Click and follow the link to request blessing.
