Adam Howell 2 Ockley House, Kingsnympton, Kingston, Surrey, KT2 7TH 07927656419 - howell_77@hotmail.com Personal Profile My interest in Aerospace Engineering started when I first saw a space rocket take off, from that day forward I wanted to learn about space and how rockets were made and how much power it would take to make it leave the atmosphere and enter space. This passion is demonstrated through the subjects I have studied ultimately leading me to undertake an MEng in Aerospace Engineering and Space Technology. I have developed a broad range skill set including being creative during projects whilst also possessing good mathematical skills. My overall ability to work with a group of people, some of which I have never met before, is a characteristic which I pride myself upon. This has become apparent during past team projects which have occurred throughout my first year of study. Education MEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering, Astronautics with Space Technology Kingston University Sept 2013 – July 2018 1st Year Modules with Grades Introduction to Aerospace Engineering AAnalytical Methods, Computing, Electrical and Electronic Systems Thermofluids and Mechanical D+ Engineering Design, Materials and Principles Manufacture 2nd Year Modules with Grades Aerodynamics, Propulsion and C+ Aerospace Engineering Design and Analytical Methods Project Management Aerospace Structures, Materials & BElectronic Systems, Control and Dynamics Computing BTEC BTEC Engineering: GCSE’s Harlow College CB- C+ B Sept 2011 – July 2013 Distinction*, Distinction*, Distinction* Burnt Mill School Sept 2006 – July 2011 7 Subjects including Mathematics, English and Science, All passed Grades A – C IT/ Technical Skills I have previous experience working with CAD technology which range from Solidworks to AutoCAD. Whilst working with Solidworks during university, I would design to specific dimensions exactly what was required during lessons. Aside from class, I would use Solidworks in my spare time to create further advanced apparatus such as a pressure plate. Throughout the duration of my course I have gained extensive experience for the practical side of engineering. I was required to manufacture devices ranging from a toolmakers clamp to a metallic box. Whilst I had to produce these parts I gained knowledge of how to use machinery such as lathes, milling machines and spark welders. Each part that I created had to be within a certain dimensional allowance, which was never over a 1.mm+so being precise is a skill that has shown throughout my work. Project Work For a section of my engineering design project myself and my fellow classmates had to create a wing out of balsa wood material to hold a specified weight at the tip until the wing eventually broke. The wing would be judged on two factors, how much the wing could hold, and finally, how much the wing would weigh altogether. My team consisted of 6 members including myself. Individuals were assigned specific roles wherever possible, although some tasks required more than one member of the team. My specific roles entailed helping with the first drafts of the design, choosing the final design out of three main contenders, researching facts for the material, Computer Aided Design, evaluation of the wing and the final project plan. My responsibilities in this project were vital for completion. The original concept drawings and final designs were completed by Solidworks and Engineering drawing where we would have to be as specific as possible to make sure the wing was visibly and mathematically correct for the production side of the project. With good team work and communication we overcame all obstacles that came our way, such as the delicate matter of choosing the most suitable engineering structure. Once testing arrived we passed with flying colours, going above and beyond the minimum weight required without our wing deforming in any way. Professional Experience Date: September 2014 – October 2014 Endsleigh Insurance Sales Team I used to work for the Insurance company Endsleigh. My role in the company was a sales team member. I was responsible for selling insurance to students at various university events around west London. I communicated the benefits of the insurance policies and answered any questions on the policies. I worked in a team which varies in numbers from each event. Date: June 2014 – August 2014 Kingston University Talent - Student Caller My previous occupation was with my university, where a group of 8 other students and I would call up postgraduate students and survey them on their employment status. I would read from a script and take down the information that I gathered from students. This would then be put towards a database, helping Kingston University in the university league tables. Interest I have an interest in sports, specifically football. I had taken part in, and captained, my local football team for over 5 years as I am seen as a leader. I am also a fan of cricket and Formula One racing. I also have worked on building a computer game in my spare time as a hobby. References Available upon request
