Rules
To be run under NPS rules.
1. Any Liability is disclaimed by the organizers in respect of loss, damage, injury or illness to exhibits or
competitors, their family or staff. All exhibitors are expected to have sufficient public liability insurance
cover for themselves, their exhibits, their property and staff to cover any eventualities that may occur at
this event. It is the express condition of entry that each competitor shall indemnify the judges, committee,
and officials, against any legal action of claims arising from any accident or other incident that may occur.
2. The decision of the Judge and Committee is final.
3. No entry will be accepted without the correct entry fee. Non-returnable.
4. No whip or cane to exceed 30 inches. This applies in all cases. If a whip or cane is misused in the
opinion of the Judge the exhibitor may be asked to leave the ring.
5. No pony may be plaited in Mountain and Moorland classes.
6. All ridden ponies most be 4 years old or over.
7. All riders must wear correctly secured current British Standard skull caps or riding hats.
8. Ages for rider of stallions: Riders must be 11 years or over on 1st January of the current year to ride
any stallion not exceeding 138cms or small breed M&M stallion i.e. Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland and
Welsh Section A or B. Riders must be 14 years or over on 1 January of the current year to ride any
stallion exceeding 138cms or large breed M&M stallion i.e. Connemara. Dales. Fell. Highland, New
Forest and Welsh Section C or D. Proof of rider’s age may be required.
9. Please take all droppings and litter home.
10. Please ensure all passports are available.
NPS Winter Championship Qualifying Rounds
This show is affiliated to the National Pony Society and the NPS affiliated classes will be run
under NPS rules. Classes are open to Members and Non-Members of the NPS, but Non-Members
will need to become Adult Showing members to enter the finals at the NPS Spring Festival 2015.
The NPS General Rules for Showing apply (see NPS website for details).
In each class the highest placed pony, not already qualified, within the first six places, will
qualify. Winnings in the 2014/2015 Novice and Pure Novice Winter Championships will not
debar ponies from the NPS 2015 Mountain and Moorland Novice Ridden competitions.

NPS CHECKLEYBANK M&M NOVICE LEADING REIN WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP
Judge: Mr David Puttock
Class 1
Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest and Welsh Section A & B. Not
exceeding 122cms.
This Competition is open to mares and geldings four years old or over, registered in the main
body of their respective Mountain and Moorland Stud Book.
Pony not to have won a first prize in any Leading Rein class. To be shown in a snaffle bit, the
leading rein must be attached to the noseband only. The reins must go directly from the bit to
the rider’s hands. Riders must have attained their 3 rd but not have attained their 9th birthday
(riders’ ages are as at 1st January in the current year).
NPS M&M NOVICE FIRST RIDDEN WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP
Class 2
Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest and Welsh Section A & B.

This Competition is open to mares and geldings four years old or over, registered in the main
body of their respective Mountain and Moorland Stud Book. Pony not to have won a first prize
in any First Ridden class. Ponies must not be cantered except in their individual show.
Riders must have attained their 3rd but not have attained their 12th birthday (riders’ ages are as
at 1st January in the current year).
NPS TC TACK LTD M&M LEADING REIN WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP
Class 3
Dartmoor, Exmoor, Shetland, New Forest and Welsh Section A & B.

body of their respective Mountain and Moorland Stud Book. To be led by an attendant and
shown in a snaffle bit, the leading rein to be attached to the noseband only. The reins must go

body of their respective Mountain and Moorland Stud Book. Riders must have attained their 3 rd

Mini Championship: 1st and 2nd prize winners from Classes 1 to 4 to compete.

NPS HIRSTMUND STUD M&M PURE NOVICE RIDDEN WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP

This Competition is open to stallions, mares and geldings four years old or over which must be
registered in the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Book.
Pony not to have been placed first in any Ridden Mountain & Moorland Class prior to the
commencement of the current Winter Series. All ponies in this class must be shown in a
snaffle bit. Rider any age (except stallions – see NPS Rules).
