EUROVENT CERTITA CERTIFICATION LAUNCHES
A NEW ENERGY EFFICIENCY CLASSIFICATION FOR AIR FILTERS
Paris, 23rd February 2014 – With over 8 year expertise gained in Air Filter certification, Eurovent Certita
Certification is pleased to announce the launch of its new energy efficiency classification for Air Filters.
This new classification is defined in the Rating Standard RS 4/C/001-2015 which refers to the calculation
method given in the Eurovent document 4/21-2014.
The products covered by the energy classification are all M5 to F9 air filters rated at 3400 m 3/h including
Bags, V-type, Pleated, Panels and Filter mats.
The energy class is presented in the ECC energy efficiency label where the following performances are
provided:
- Energy efficiency class according to RS 4/C/001-2015
- Filter class according to EN 779:2012
- Nominal airflow
- Initial efficiency
- Minimum efficiency
- Annual energy consumption in kWh/annum
This new energy classification is more demanding for air filters. As an example, F7 filters have to have
an annual energy consumption lower than 950 kWh/annum in order to be rated “A” whereas the limit was
set at 1200 kWh/annum with the previous classification.
Additionally, an A+ class has been introduced allowing to identify the world’s best products in terms of
Energy Efficiency (air filters rated “A+” represents less than 1% of the certified products).
This new classification is in line with the latest Eurovent Certita Certification policy regarding Energy
Efficiency classification, that is:
- A+ class represents less than 1% of the certified products
- A class represents less than 5% of the certified products
- B class represents less than 15% of the certified products
This policy is defined in Appendix K in the Certification Manual Ed. 11 (2015).
