BETHESDA CATHEDRAL – WORD EDIFICATION (Oikos on 2nd Nov 2012) Announcements 1. Prayer & Praise @ the Chapel Every Wed, 8pm. Thank God for the 776 names pinned on the Christmas tree. Pray for their salvation. 2. Fruitfulness and Revival – Let us encourage each other to boldly and courageously to invite our FRANs to church. Get ready for the harvest! Word Released: Deut 17:16 “The king, moreover, must not acquire great numbers of horses for himself or make the people return to Egypt to get more of them, for the LORD has told you, ‘You are not to go back that way again’.” Word Edification: Obedience – The Key To Revival (Spk: Pastor Tay Cheng Kee) 1. God is moving strongly in our church. God is leading us, desiring to lift us one level up in the area of commitment, faithfulness and intimacy with Him. 2. Three Important truths – “… Men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus”. (Acts 11:20) i) Un-named people – ordinary, common, unofficial people, not apostles from Jerusalem, not theologians, not scholars bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ into Antioch. ii) They have the courage and boldness to speak the Word to the Gentiles (the Greek), the pre-believers. iii) They were telling (sharing) the good news in conversational style and not preaching down to them. “The Lord’s hand was with them and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord” (Acts 11:21). When we obeyed the call, the blessing and the favour of God follows. 3. Everyone of us is a witness unto Jesus Christ. i) Andrew seeks his brother Peter when he found Jesus Christ, shared his testimony and brought him to Jesus. (Jn 1:40-42) ii) Philip seeks for his friend, Nathaniel, shared his testimony and brought him to Jesus. (Jn 1:44-49). iii) The Samaritans woman had an encounter with Jesus at the well. Went back to the town and shared with the people her testimony. As a result of her sharing the people went to see Jesus and many people believed in Jesus (Jn 4:29). 4. Heaven rejoices when the lost are found – Luke 15 There was great rejoicing when the lost sheep, lost coin and lost son were found (v 3-32). The lost are precious to the Lord and matters greatly to Him. He loves them all. 5. Bethesda Cathedral – we are an evangelical church because: At our inception, God gave us this verse, “Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.” (Dan 12:3) We are committed to Evangelism because: i) It is commanded by Jesus Himself “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mk 16:15). ii) Jesus is the Only Way “Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (Jn 14:6). iii) Jesus loves us and died for us a. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (Jn 3:16). b. “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Rm 5:8). Can anything be worse than being lost? Yes! Being lost and having no one searching for you! How sad! Applications 1. Is your anointing still fresh? Has your fire for God fizzled out? Have you left your first love for Jesus? Discuss. 2. How can we be witnesses and ambassadors for Jesus Christ. 3. Let us pray for our pre believer loved ones, reaching out to them and trusting God for their salvation.
