Camp ReddemeadE
We believe Kids and Horses are meant to be together!
Dear prospective Campers and Parents:
Thank you for your interest in our Summer Horsemanship Day Camp. Drawing on our many years’ experience
teaching children to ride and operating licensed children day camps, we offer a great program that will provide
your children with a summer of fun, activity, challenge and growth in physical, personal, and horsemanship
skills. Our camp is an excellent way for beginners to get to know horses because it offers “hands on”
experience with grooming, horse care and handling sessions, as well as daily riding lessons. For experienced
riders, the continuity of daily lessons and the increased individual attention helps children progress even faster
than in weekly riding lessons. The campers also learn responsibility by caring for horses and equipment, and
performing stable chores.
A typical day may include:






grooming and tacking horses
barn chores
2 mounted lessons
2 unmounted activities
games
untacking and cooling out horses
Hours: Camp hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We offer before and after care (7:30am to 6pm) at an
additional charge of $20 per day.

Reservations: Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served
basis. Since enrollment is limited, please stop by the farm or mail your
registration fee as soon as possible to reserve a spot in our program.
Graduation Ceremony: Special graduation activities, including drill rides, a
costume parade, and a showcase of activities worked on throughout the
week, will be planned by the students for the last Friday afternoon of each
session at 1:30pm (time subject to change). Parents and friends are
encouraged to attend.
Riding Levels: Camp is open to all levels of riding. Students will be
evaluated on the first day of the session and grouped by the camp
instructors with others of similar riding ability and experience. Group
placement is made to maximize safety and learning opportunity
Ages: The program is open to children 7 to 14 years of age.
Dress Code: Students should wear jeans or long pants suitable for riding and
farm activities. Hard soled shoes are a must. No one in sneakers will be
allowed to ride. An ASTM/SEI approved helmet with harness is to be worn at
all times while riding and handling horses. Although we do provide helmets,
we recommend that riders have their own, properly fitted helmets.
Excessively long pants or shirts are safety hazards and should be avoided.
Long hair should be braided or placed on a pony tail for riding. It is also a good
idea to bring a change of clothes (shorts, sneakers, etc.) for when the weather
gets hot.
***Woodland Tack Shop offers a summer camp special that includes a pair of synthetic Paddock Boots
and a helmet. For other items (riding pants, gloves, etc.), be sure to mention that you ride at
Reddemeade, since any purchase over $20 receives a discount of 10%. ***
Lunches: Students should bring their own lunches and any desired snacks.
A refrigerator is available. We have a soda & snack machine ($1.50 per
drink & $1.00 per snack). And tap water is always available. Students
should bring correct change if they plan to purchase drinks or snacks. A
water bottle is also required daily to bring to mounted lessons.
Inclement Weather: Our large, indoor facility allows for a full program of
activities regardless of weather. For safety reasons, lessons may be
curtailed during severe weather.
Our fully licensed summer program is designed to be fun as well as educational for Kids of every level.
We focus on all aspects of horsemanship, using both mounted and unmounted learning techniques.
