C OMMUNITY S ERVINGS RECEIVES $65,000 IN GRANTS TO FUND FOOD AND NUTRITION PROGRAMS FOR

INDIVIDUALS TOO SICK TO SHOP OR COOK FOR THEMSELVES

Boston (February 24, 2014) – Community Servings, a Massachusetts home-delivered meals program for the critically ill, was awarded $65,000 in grants from foundations and corporations that support their mission of feeding the critically ill. The generous donations were made by Biogen Idec Foundation, Blue Hills Bank Charitable

Foundation, Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation, Greenpark Mortgage: A Division of Berkshire Bank, Macy’s,

Project Bread, and Vertex Pharmaceuticals.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals awarded Community Servings $25,000 to assist in delivering medically appropriate, delicious meals to the critically-ill across Massachusetts.

Community Servings was awarded $15,000 from Project Bread to help with their nutrition program for individuals, children and families affected by a chronic illness. Project Bread combats hunger by funding emergency food programs and anti-food insecurity initiatives throughout Massachusetts.

Community Servings was awarded $8,000 to help support Macy’s commitment to give back to the communities where we live and work. Community Servings delivers meals to more than 17 communities in the Greater Boston area.

Biogen Idec Foundation awarded $5,000 to Community Servings. The grant will support Community Servings’ nutrition program for the critically-ill and their families.

Blue Hills Bank Charitable Foundation granted Community Servings with $5,000 to supply over 200 meals to individuals affected by a variety of serious illnesses.

Eastern Bank Charitable Foundation granted $5,000 to Community Servings to help serve those in need in

Massachusetts communities. The award will feed critically-ill individuals and their dependents living in over 17 cities and towns in Massachusetts.

Greenpark Mortgage: A Division of Berkshire Bank awarded Community Servings $2,000 to support their meals program. A volunteer group from Greenpark Mortgage also kindly lends their time each month to Community

Servings to help package and deliver meals.
