IMPORTANT INFORMATION
There are symbols next to some of the training programs. These symbols are explained below.
*Limited availability of jobs in this occupation in Central Texas may make it difficult to find employment.
You must agree to seek employment for occupations related to your training outside the Central Texas area
in places where the jobs are available. A workforce specialist will assist you in determining where these
areas are.
** 100% on-line distance education. You must have a home computer that is compatible with the school’s
website and training modules, a high speed internet connection, and be able to devote the required time to
work at home. These programs require personal discipline and family support to work independently without
distraction during study and computer time.
# Limitations apply. These include limited enrollments or funding, the program is not sponsored at this time
but could be in the future, or limited numbers are being accepted. Training may be available only for
customers eligible for certain grants or special training programs that are not available to all. A workforce
specialist can answer questions about this.
^ Maintenance and Repair: different subjects leading to specific skills in building and maintenance and
repair of structures and of HVAC systems. The training offers selected certificates in electrical construction,
plumbing, carpentry, heating and air conditioning, workplace safety, and solar technician. You are limited to
two choices. A workforce specialist can answer questions about this.
^^ Mechanical Engineering Degree/Machining Certificate: This training is for the machining certificate
portion of the degree program only. The ME degree is not sponsored.
@ Texas A&M Central Texas: limited to college junior and senior level studies only. You must qualify for
entry as a college junior or higher. In order to receive our assistance you must be within 60 credit hours of
degree completion and be able to complete in 2 years or less. We will examine your college transcripts and
degree plan.
@@ Bachelors degree required for program entry.
+ Vista IT: is not currently offered at the Killeen campus.
++ Certification exam: this program is offered only to those who can qualify to take the exam for
certification as a Registered Health Records Technician. This includes an Associate degree and possibly
previous administrative experience.
Programs are either degree or certificate. Degree programs are either Associate (2 years) or Bachelors (4 years).
Certificate programs are generally 1 year in length and offer core skills without degree requirements.
There are out of area schools not included on this list that offer the same training programs. We can consider them
under certain circumstances; however, the cost for schools not on the list may be greater and require extensive
travel. It is our policy not to pay costs at schools outside our area that are higher than local schools.
