Programs
 In Program Builder a program is a folder for one or more scope and sequences and the
attached units for (up to) one school year.
 When you create a scope and sequence you will need the following information:

Name of program

Short description of the program (optional)

Name and duration of each unit of work
 You will be given the choice between a program that holds one scope and sequence and a
program that holds multiple scope and sequences.
 You can customise term lengths.

Units
 In Program Builder a unit refers to a unit of work.
 You can search, view and edit your units.
 Create a unit individually or as you build your program.
 When you create unit you can add outcomes and content directly from the syllabus; all other
information must be populated by teachers.

Templates
 There are three standard templates from which to choose.
 You can also create your own template or customise the layout and components of an
existing template.
 Any changes made to an existing template will be automatically applied to all units using that
template. Alternatively, you can save the changes as a new template.
 Templates for units are divided into three sections: introduction, body and conclusion
 In each section you can choose the width of each column.
 The introduction must contain outcomes.
 In the introduction and conclusion you can chose from the following options:








Unit overview
Assessment overview
Resources overview
Key concepts/contexts/ideas/inquiry questions/skills
Start/end date
Evaluation
Three cells that can be customised to meet the needs of individual schools and/or
teachers
In the body you can choose from the following options:





Content
Teaching, learning and assessment
Adjustments and extensions
Resources

Samples
 View examples of programs and units developed by the Board of Studies NSW.
Share
 View items others have shared with you.
 Manage items you have shared with others.
 When you share a template, unit or program the recipient will have read access and will be
able to see the changes you make as you make changes. They will also be able to take a
copy into their portfolio.
 When sharing you must acknowledge that you are authorised to share the information with
others.
 You can share your work at a particular URL. When you do this, anyone with a Program
Builder account will be able to access your unit at this URL.
OR
 You can share your work via email with those you nominate. You can share your work with up
to 10 email addresses at a time.
