Clinical Residency & Fellowship Program Development Grants Created The Clinical Residency Program Grants were established in 2005 and were expanded to include fellowships in 2011. The Section on Pediatrics will award money each year to assist potential pediatric residency and fellowship programs with the ABPTRFE accreditation process. This money will be made available on a “first-come, first-served” basis in the form of grants; the number and amount of the grants will be determined each year. For the latest list of recipients and information on the availability of grants, please contact pediatrics@apta.org. Purpose The Clinical Residency & Fellowship Program Development Grants were created to support the development of new clinical residency & fellowship programs in pediatric physical therapy in addition to ongoing accreditation of existing programs. Application Process Once your pediatric residency or fellowship program receives accreditation status by ABPTRFE (American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education), the program may submit for a Section on Pediatrics Clinical Residency & Fellowship Grant to reimburse the cost of the accreditation application fee of $1845.75. The approved program may submit a completed application form (obtained from the Section website), along with evidence of accreditation status from ABPTRFE to the Section on Pediatrics Executive Office (pediatrics@apta.org) within the same calendar year of accreditation. The Executive Director will share the application with the Education Committee Chair, or designated committee member, to ensure that all requirements have been fulfilled. For complete applications, the Education Committee Chair or designated committee member will send the successful applicant notification and a Section Reimbursement Form to be completed and submitted to the Section’s Executive Office. In turn, the Section will send the applicant a check to cover the cost of the ABPTRFE accreditation application. Applicants will be notified within 4 weeks of submission. Grants will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. If all grants allocated for the calendar year have been utilized, the Education Committee Chair has the option of submitting a motion for an additional award. Grant recipients will be announced annually at CSM and via the Section’s electronic newsletter. Confidentiality shall be maintained in all matters dealing with the selection of grant recipients.
