Miss Springfield 2016 Pageant
Miss Springfield is an OPEN Pageant. An OPEN pageant means you may be from
anywhere in the state of Missouri to enter.
The Miss America Scholarship Program is the largest scholarship program for young
women in the world. At the local, state and national levels, over five million dollars is
awarded annually. Over $15,000 in scholarships and prizes will be awarded at the state
level. Miss Springfield will receive a cash scholarship to the college or training school of
her choice in the state of Missouri. The amount of winnings will be determined by the
amount of money we raise from donations. To be announced before the pageant.

ENTRY FEE is a $100.00 donation to Children’s Miracle Network
Children’s Miracle Network: The National Platform of the Miss America
Organization.
The fundraising in done in three easy steps:
1. Each contestant must log onto www.missamerica4kids.org to create
her personal fund raising web page.
2. Once registered, contestants will e-mail friends and relatives and ask
for donations to support Children’s Miracle Network and the Miss
America Scholarship fund using a simple pre-formatted email system.
3. Friends and relatives will then log on to their contestant’s personal
fund raising web page to make secure online donations using a credit
card or check.
4. Donation must be made to CMN web page by Friday January 22nd
Competition Rules
Eligibility
1. Contestant must be at least seventeen (17) and completed her junior year of
high school.
2. Contestant must not be older than twenty-four (24) on December 31, 2016.
3. Contestant must be a citizen of the United States.
4. Contestant must have resided in Missouri at least 6 months prior to Jan 23rd
2016 or completed 1 full semester of studies.
5. Contestant must be a young lady of the highest moral character, integrity and
standards.
6. Contestant must execute the contestant contract and abide by all the agreements and representations contained therein.
Backstage
1. Contestants must do their own hair and make-up. Make-up artists, hair stylists,
etc. will not be allowed backstage or in the interview waiting rooms.
2. Hostesses will be available to assist the contestants with their clothing, etc.
backstage and in the interview waiting rooms.

Miss will need a wrap or sarong for swimsuit competition.

• To qualify to compete for Miss Springfield pageant all paperwork must be
received by January 9th
• No parents or coaches will be allowed in the dressing rooms.
• Tickets will be available at the door for the pageant $10 each
• More information will follow after we receive your paperwork. And will be glad to

Job Description for the 417 Queens

Always represent your title with good moral character and integrity.
Be available, if asked to attend events, openings, ribbon cuttings,
school events, banquets, dinners, etc…putting your title’s needs for a
spokesperson first and represent your title to the best of her ability.
Be on time at all times and meet deadlines and timelines as instructed.
Be available for preparation in all categories for the Miss Missouri
Pageant 2016 through her reign and work with your Director and
Board in preparation for all categories of competition, be fit, and to be
able to compete to the best of her ability for the title of Miss Missouri.
Miss Springfield must be present to give up her crown at the following
year’s pageant.
Attend mandatory Miss Missouri orientation April 9, 2016 in Mexico
MO
Compete at Miss Missouri 2016, June 14-18, 2016.
All events where the title holder is representing our 417 Titles must
be approved by the Executive Director.
Presentation in Interview (25%)
1. Interviews will be 10 minutes. The contestant will be introduced to the judges
by a hostess; question and answer session will begin when the judges ask the
first question and will end at the 9 minute 30 second mark. There will be an
additional 30 seconds given for the contestant to discuss anything that was not
covered in her interview that she would like the judges to know about herself.
This optional 30 second closing may or may not be utilized and will not affect
the contestant’s score based on her choice.
2. Questions will come from a variety of areas; including, but not limited to, the
contestant’s resume, platform essay, moral/ethical issues, current events, etc.
Contestants should be prepared to answer any type of question asked.
3. Contestant’s wardrobe should be appropriate for a business interview and represent her personality and age.

Lifestyle and Fitness in Swimsuit (15%)
1. Contestant may select a one or two-piece swimsuit. Modesty and decency
should be appropriate guidelines when selecting fitness outfits. Hosiery, oils,
and excessive lotion may NOT be used. Contestants will wear shoes during
the swimsuit competition.
2. Contestants should wear tan/nude high heels/ strappy sandals with a heel.
Artistic Expression in Talent (35%)
1. Contestant’s talent must not be longer than 1 minute and 30 secs. CD only!
2. “Live” accompaniment is not permitted. Only the contestant is permitted onstage. No other person may be a part of her presentation.
3. Talent must be performed live.
4. Pantomime and lip-sync are not permitted.
5. Tap dancers may not have accompaniment tapes with pre-recorded taps or
tape sounds.
6. The sound engineer will not stop and re-start an accompaniment tape as a
part of the Contestant’s performance. If Contestant needs a ten second delay
in her performance, then the tape should include a ten second silent spot.
7. No other recordings may be included on the accompaniment tape.
8. Background tracks will be approved by the Pageant.
9. Fire (fire ropes, fire batons, etc.), pyrotechnics, swords, knives, or machetes,
bow and arrow acts, and the use of live animals are strictly prohibited.
Presence and Poise in Evening Wear (20%)
1. Contestants should wear age appropriate attire that makes her feel beautiful
and special.
2. Age appropriate full-length pantsuits are appropriate. Shorter attire may be
worn, but must be age appropriate.
On-Stage Question (5%)
1. The Contestant will wear her opening number
Outfit for the on-stage question. This phase of
Competition will take place immediately following the Parade of Contestants.
Each contestant’s question will be on their personal platform.
