About Peter McVerry Trust: Established in 1983 by Fr Peter McVerry the charity works with
individuals at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness. Peter McVerry Trust provides a wide range of
services in the areas of prevention, housing, homelessness, under 18s residential and drug
treatment.

primarily to younger persons with complex needs, and offers pathways out of homelessness based

fundraising team.
The Corporate Fundraiser will be responsible for developing the corporate fundraising and major
gift strategy to grow income from these sectors to their full potential. They will be expected to
proactively devise and implement creative profitable campaigns with businesses, engaging their
employees and customers, and working closely with the Head of Fundraising and Marketing to
develop relationships with existing and new individuals to achieve income targets. Activities
include recruiting new and managing existing relationships; securing corporate donations and
sponsorships; preparing grant applications and proposals; enhancing existing appeals and events;
and developing new employee fundraising and volunteering activities.
This is a key role within the charity for a highly driven individual who will be responsible for
achieving set targets and developing new funding streams.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:

To the Head of Fundraising & Marketing:

To work closely with the Head of Fundraising and Marketing to further develop the
corporate fundraising strategy and associated operational plan; which involves developing
existing and new relationships with high-level donors;




To also develop relevant key performance indicators (KPIs) to help track and manage
progress during the implementation of the strategy and operational plan;
To review KPIs and appeal/work plans regularly with Head of Fundraising & Marketing;
To undertake any other duties consistent with the position as may be assigned by the
Head of Fundraising and Marketing.
Key fundraising objectives/responsibilities:










To meet agreed income targets and quarterly KPIs;
To identify network and market opportunities; including suitable high-value partnerships
and funding and grant initiatives;
To co-ordinate sales development programmes, identifying well researched prospects
with a view to securing long-term and short-term corporate partnerships and regularly
report on the their progression;
To manage existing corporate partnerships, building positive relationships with donors,
maximising potential income and reaching monthly targets while recruiting new
prospects;
To prepare high quality grant applications and proposals to secure support and deliver
presentations and status reports as necessary for donors, ensuring excellent stewardship;
To work closely with colleagues on key events and appeals to ensure optimum success,
and develop new corporate events and initiatives;
To carry out appeal/work plans in a timely and effective manner to achieve set targets;
To ensure activities result in sustainable income generation;
To ensure fundraising activities are carried out within agreed expenditure budgets.

It may be necessary, from time to time, for workload to be re-prioritised in order to
accommodate workloads in other areas of the organisation. Due notice and consultation
will be given.

Person Specification:
Qualifications and Experience:
 Educated to degree level or equivalent in relevant area;
 Essential competencies: Commitment to providing the highest level of service,
communication skills– oral, aural and written, professionalism, planning & organising,
leadership, effective team working, developing external relationships and influencing &
negotiating. (All other competencies to be reviewed as part of the supervision and support
process);
 Minimum 4 years’ experience in corporate fundraising or new business development role
or sales environment with proven track record of meeting KPIs, financial targets and
delivering significant income growth;
 Experience of managing multiple tasks to deadlines and prioritising own workload, ability
to work under pressure;
 Open and friendly manner, with excellent communication skills and a strong customer
orientation;
 Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
 Knowledge of voluntary sector and relevant legislation;
 Desirable - experience of working or volunteering in the voluntary sector, experience
corporate fundraising as well as an understanding of corporate social responsibility issues
and experience using a fundraising database.
