Neurologists Swee Yang Lim, MD, and Flavia M. Machado, MD, join
Southcoast Brain and Spine Center
DARTMOUTH, Mass. — Southcoast® Health System announced today that neurologists Swee
Yang Lim, MD, and Flavia M. Machado, MD, have joined Southcoast Physicians Group and will see
patients at Southcoast Brain and Spine Center located at 480 Hawthorn Street in Dartmouth.
Southcoast Brain and Spine Center is a regional center that provides a comprehensive delivery of
care for patients with neurological brain and spine disorders through surgical and non-surgical treatment
options. Physician specialists in neurology, neurosurgery and physiatry collaborate with a
multidisciplinary team of physical therapists, psychologists, chiropractors and nurses to offer the most
advanced treatments and care available for neurological, brain and spine disorders.

Swee Yang Lim, MD
Dr. Lim, MD, is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md., and the Medical
College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wis. He completed an internship in internal medicine at the Lahey
Clinic in Burlington, followed by a residency in neurology and fellowship in neuromuscular medicine at
Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
Dr. Lim is board certified in neurology and board eligible in neuromuscular medicine. He is
fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
Dr. Lim currently resides in Providence, R.I.
Flavia M. Machado, MD
Dr. Machado, MD, earned her medical degree from Fundação Técnico -Educational Souza
Marques University in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She completed an internal medicine residency at the
Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and a residency in neurology at the
Universidade Estadual do Rio de Janeiro also in Brazil. Dr. Machado participated in a residency in
internal medicine at Metro West Medical Center in Framingham and completed a residency in neurology
at Tufts Medical Center in Boston. She is board eligible in neurology.
Dr. Machado specializes in the treatment of patients who have had strokes or suffer from
headaches. She is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish.
Dr. Machado currently resides in Providence, R.I.
