ANDREW’S VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL Please join us this year as we band together with St. Augustine’s church school for an exciting three days exploring Jesus’s hometown of Nazareth and what it was like to live in biblical times. Our dates are Sunday, June 28th, Monday, June 29th and Tuesday June 30th. We begin each evening with a supper at 5:30 and we invite families to eat with us and stay to explore our Market Place. Our children will have a chance to work with pottery, mosaics, beading, weaving, and visiting a spices and herbs shop. We will also sing and play some arena games. Each evening will end by 8:00pm and we will have a nursery and preschool. Please sign up to attend or volunteer. Questions? Call Sarah Black at 402-660-7649 or sarah@standrewsomaha.org GREETER The summer edition of The Greeter is out. Pick up your copy today. ST. ANDREW’S CHOIR Sunday, May 31 is Trinity Sunday and the last Sunday our Choir will perform prior to summer break. Michael Bauer and the Sr. Choir, a volunteer choir, work very hard all year long to bring us this beautiful music that enhances our worship experience. They do a wonderful job. Let’s let them know how much we appreciate them! ST. MONICA’S WELCOME BAGS The Ladies of St. Monica's Guild are collecting items for our June delivery of Welcome Bags to the St. Monica's Home in Lincoln. We deliver handmade bags filled with toiletries and supplies twice a year to support the women who enter St. Monica's Home for substance abuse treatment. Our greatest needs at this time are new bath size towels and washcloths, full size Suave conditioner, body wash and body lotion, razors, full size toothpaste & toothbrushes, Suave brand deodorant, and feminine products. If you find a great sale on a brand other than Suave, that is fine. We just want to be careful that we do not inadvertently give them a product containing alcohol. We can always use any extra fabric that you might have to make our handmade bags. Items can be left in the St. Monica's bin outside the office. We are grateful for all you have donated in the past and appreciate your continued support of this project. Thank you very much. (Youth Emergency Services for homeless youth). The food pantry is currently in need of crackers, snacks (like granola bars), soup and cereal, but as always, any non-perishable food item is gratefully accepted. Thank you to those of you who are so great about providing these needed items for those who are less fortunate. We are asked by God to serve one another and to be good stewards of our bounty. THIRD ANNUAL “BY REQUEST ONLY” Our third annual By Request Only concert will take place on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Lauritzen Gardens. Featuring Billy McGuigan and Jimmy Weber, this event is a fun evening of rock ‘n roll and country with the proceeds supporting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and St. Andrew’s. Tickets are available for $25 ($15 for students). Tickets will be $35 at the door, so buy yours early! Our request this year is that everyone at St. Andrew’s join in making this our best year yet and JUST SELL TWO tickets! SUPPORT LOCAL CHARITIES Instead of starting your shopping at Amazon.com, go to Smile.Amazon.com to get started. When asked what charity you'd like to support, type in the name of the group you're interested in. Amazon will then donate a small percentage of their profit from your purchases to that group. It is as simple as that, and every little bit adds up to make a difference. Some of the groups that our parish Outreach Committee supports are listed -- including Youth Emergency Services and the Omaha Street School. OUTREACH TO THE OMAHA STREET SCHOOL A quote by a Junior at the Omaha Street School: “Coming here was a fresh start. I was able to start over and build a new reputation for myself and really do better.” How true that is for this program which is a Christian-based, certified, private school offering a personalized education, a moral code, and tools for selfsufficiency to at-risk youth. We are still collecting toilet paper, paper towels, granola bars, bottled water, and reusable water bottles to donate. These items can be placed in the black bins in Engle Hall. Please contact Melissa at melpeeler@hotmail.com or 402-212-3827 to help with this ministry. NEARLY NEW SHOP The Shop continues to need volunteers and paper shopping bags. Please call Denise (402-393-5888) if you are interested. Please remember our new hours: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Thursday and Friday, and 10:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday.
