2-Year Teacher
Tameka Long – Kindergarten
I am a true believer in “knowledge is power.” I
have worked with Fulton County for over 6 years and
I have a firm foundation in the needs of students on
the south side. I love to communicate with both
parents and teachers concerning how schools should
operate and educate. I have continued to work with
my colleagues about what is best for students and
trying to correct flaws within the system that prohibit
Fulton County School’s mission. Public governance is
imperative to ensure that all students will have a
positive contribution to society locally and globally.

I want to serve on the Cliftondale Elementary School
Governance Council because I am committed to the mission of
our school and care about the future of our students—
including my son who is a 3rd grade Cliftondale Mustang. As
our school joins the FCS charter system this year, I want to
learn more about the new school strategic plan in order to
maintain and improve upon the rich learning opportunities
Cliftondale can offer our students. My STEM and instructional
design background, coupled with K-12 support experience, will
serve me well in this position. I have a Ph.D. in Middle and
Secondary Education from Georgia State University. I have
worked with middle school teachers involved with AfterSchool All Stars Atlanta, and developed technology supported
lessons for science, language arts, and math content areas. I
am currently an Instructional Technologist at Emory
University. I will have the time and flexibility to devote to
working on the School Governance Council, and look forward
to being a liaison between the Council and the Cliftondale
school community. I ask for your vote November 12th -18th.

council. All children are our future, what we do today
