Since January we have had a number of
school events. We raised money for our
foster child, which is $35 a month. We
hope to gather enough funds in the next
months to support our child until
October 2010.
In February we sold Candy Grams for
Valentine’s Day, and held a K-6 soc
hop. The money raised went to support
our foster child.
On March 18, 2010 we had a
presentation from the Red Cross to bring
awareness of malaria in Developing
countries.
Education Week
Education Week was celebrated at GRC
from March 8-12. During this week
there was a theme each day and an
activity in the gym with teams
participating in some competitions. The
week ended with the annual field trip to
the Bruce II where the students went
swimming, bowling and skating. All
activities were enjoyed by the students.
Senior Boys Basketball
The senior boy’s basketball team
travelled to Gilliams along with their
coach Mr. Adey on March 5 & 6 to play
in the regionals. The boys were very
successful in the tournament and had the
opportunity to travel to St. John’s for the
provincial tournament. Congratulations
to you all!
Apple Grams
The CIS workers had apple grams
prepared for the students on Friday,
March 19. Various treats were prepared
for the students to enjoy. The students
could pay a dollar (which would go
towards the breakfast program) and their
names went in a draw for prizes.
Logo Contest
The grades 4-6 participated in the Create
a Logo Contest again this year. They had
to be creative and think of an idea that
may be used to start a business. All
entries were sent in and the results will
be known in June. Good luck everyone!
Fish Friends Program
The grade 5/6 class are participating in
the Fish Friends Program again this year.
The fish eggs have arrived at the school

The Red Cross visited the school on
Friday, March 19 and gave a
presentation on malaria. The Respect
Team, Leadership Team and the Student
Council were all present for the
presentation.
Career Fair
A career fair was held at GRC on
Thursday, march 18. The students from
grade 9-12 at GRC along with students
from LeGallais were able to participate
in the event. Some venues that were
available to the students were MMYES,
Credit Union, Coast Guard, MUN and
CNA. The students were given much
valuable information on the career
opportunities that are available to them.
Easter Basket
The Drama Club were selling tickets on
an Easter basket. The proceeds will be
going to support the performances they
will be participating in this year. Thankyou for your continuous support.

the week there were various activities
done at the school to show the students
how they are appreciated. There was a
positive comment wall set up, a pie
throwing contest and breakfast served to
the students by the teachers to name a
few. We hope these activities show the
students that they to are appreciated.
Bonne Fete
The Grade 3/4 French class have
completed a unit titles Bonne Fete a
Tous. The children have learned how to
ask for age and birthdates and provide an
answer; they learned about preparations
for a birthday party and games played at
parties. The children made invitations,
birthday cards for someone they choose
and a banner. The children learned steps
for two games Passez le Cadeau and
Bonbons Musicaux. At the end of the
unit they had a birthday party. The
students exchanged cards and gifts,
played the two games and ate. The
students enjoyed it very much. Bonne

The Grade 5/6 French class recently
completed a unit based on the Quebec
Winter Carnival. They learned about
different activities one can do at a
carnival/festival; one of these was about
mask. The students were given a mask
model and had to design it in their own
way. The students had 2 weeks to do
this at home and what a job they did.
