Medical Help / Prescription Assistance
Aiken, Barnwell, Lexington Community Actions: Lexington County Office: 650 Knox Abbot Road,
Cayce, SC 29033. 794-6778. Open Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, by appointment only. Provides
assistance with prescriptions, rent and utilities. Aiken County Office: 803-648-6836; Barnwell County
Office: 803-259-3145.
Free Clinic: Provides free medical care and prescription assistance to low income individuals who have
no health insurance. Open Monday – Thursday, 9:00 am - 7:00 pm approximately.

select medications to low-income residents of South Carolina who meet eligibility criteria. Application
fee $20 in the form of a money order is required.
Cooperative Ministry: 1928 Taylor St., 799-3853. Open Monday – Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. Provides
emergency services including assistance with rent, clothing, counseling services, agency referrals, and
other services. Limited prescription assistance available up to $25 for non-controlled substances.
Midland Care Consortium (Former Ryan White Clinic): Four Medical Park, Suite 200, 252-2135. Open
Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Provides medical services, prescription assistance, STD testing,
counseling, and referrals for mental health and substance abuse counseling to individuals with HIV/AIDS.
Richland Care: 111 Doctor’s Circle, Columbia, SC 29203; 296-2220. Provides medical care and
prescription assistance to low-income residents of Richland County who meet eligibility criteria.
Applicants cannot have or be eligible for any type of health insurance. Medical care is provided at select
doctors’ offices and community health centers.
Richland Primary Health Care: 1520 Laurel St., 799-8407. Open Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Provides health and medical care including prescription assistance to individuals with and without health
insurance.
Salvation Army: 2025 Main St., 765-0260. Open Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. Provides short
term shelter, soup kitchen, and limited financial assistance with prescriptions, food, rent, and utilities.
Wateree Community Actions Inc.: 3220 Two Notch Rd., 786-4350. Open Monday – Friday, 8:30 am –
5:00 pm. Provides financial assistance with prescriptions, rent mortgage and utilities.
www.needymeds.com: website that provides information about patient assistance programs which
provide free prescription medications to eligible participations.
Prescription Assistance: Publix Grocery Stores (free antibiotics), K-Mart, Kroger, Wal-Mart, Target.
Food / Temporary Shelter
Columbia Metro Baptist Food Pantry: 1929 Gadsen St., 252-0116. Provides meals on Tuesday at
Belmont Baptist Church from 9:00 am – 12:00 am and on Thursday at Southeast Community Church
from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm.
Family Shelter: 2411 Two Notch Rd., 254-8344. Provides shelter, food other services for homeless
families.
God’s Helping Hand: 919 Holland Ave., 791-4167. Provides food, clothing, and assistance with utilities
for residents of Cayce and West Columbia.
God’s Storehouse: 1731 Risley Rd., 691-1622. Provides clothing, furniture, and household items to
residents of Richland County, and food to residents with specific zip codes.
Hannah House: 1726 Sumter St., 771-4357. Provides shelter, food, and clothing for women and
children.
Harvest Hope Food Bank: 2220 Shop Rd., 254-4432. Provides food.
Lexington Interfaith Community Services (LICS) 227 N. Lake Drive, Lexington; 957-6656. Provides food
clothing, and thrift store. An appointment is required for assistance with rent and utilities.
Samaritan Wells, Lexington, SC: 803-785-4357: Provides food and shelter to women, pregnant women
and parents of children. An application is required.
Sister Care: Secret Location, 926-0505. Provides emergency shelter, food, clothing, and legal advocacy
for abused women and their children.
Trinity Housing Corp: 1100 Sumter St., 779-9057. Provides transitional housing, employment services,
and other support services for homeless families.
Washington Street Methodist Church: 1401 Washington St., 256-2417. Provides lunch Monday –
Friday from 10:45 am – 12:00 pm.
Women’s Shelter: 3425 North Main St., 779-4706. Provides shelter, meals, counseling, and dental
services for women.
Women’s Services (Pregnancy and Parenting)
Planned Parenthood: 2712 Middleburg Dr. Suite 107; 256-4908. Provides family planning counseling,
yearly pap smears, STD checks, birth control, and abortion services.

basement. Provides housing referrals and job referrals.
Family Service Center: 1800 Main St. 733-5450. Provides individual, family, marital, and financial
counseling services.
Palmetto AIDS Life Support Services (PALSS): 1924 Taylor St., 779-7247. Provides case management
5and housing services, support groups, and emergency food pantry for individuals with HIV/AIDS.
Senior Resources: 2817 Millwood Dr., 252-7734. Provides resources for the elderly including home
services and meal on wheels.
SC State Housing Authority: 300-C Outlet Point Blvd; 896-9001. Provides assistance in finding low
income housing. Also provides homeownership programs
Vet Center: 1513 Pickens St., 765-9944. Provides counseling and other services for veterans.
VA Regional Office: 1801 Assembly St., 1-800-827-1000. Determines benefit eligibility for veterans and
their families.
