IWasteNot Systems - http://iwastenotsystems.com/- Since the inception of iWasteNot Systems, our software has
evolved as a tool to connect many people and organizations addressing various environmental and economic issues.
Whether your focus is on reducing waste in landfill, avoiding greenhouse gases, generating alternative energy, saving
costs on the purchase of new materials, helping those in need, reducing food miles, jump-starting a local food
economy, there are many benefits of an online exchange.

Loading Dock List of Materials Exchanges http://www.loadingdock.org/reuse_national/index.html - The
Loading Dock, Inc. (TLD) is the nation's first successful, self-sufficient, nonprofit building materials reuse center,
packed with new and used items and architectural salvage. Motivated by the prevalence of poor housing conditions
coupled with waste in the building industry, the founders of TLD established the nonprofit reuse clearinghouse in
1984. Donated materials, sorted and stored in TLD's 45,000-square-foot warehouse, are used in renovation and
homeowner and rental property upkeep. Their mission is to increase the supply and use of affordable building
materials for housing and community improvement by redirecting landfill-bound, reusable materials into productive
use.
NERC list of Materials Exchanges in the Northeast and Reuse Marketplace
http://www.nerc.org/documents/material_exchanges_in_the_northeast.html As you know, Materials Exchanges
offer excellent opportunities to find a useful life for materials rather than creating solid waste. We are fortunate that
there are several Materials Exchanges in the Northeast. NERC has developed this list as an informational service to
make it easy to identify and access these organizations. Promoting the environmental and economic benefits of
source reduction is part of NERC's mission, and Materials Exchanges provide an important source reduction service.
This is the most up-to-date comprehensive listing of Materials Exchanges in the Northeast, and includes a new
category of Exchanges that have arisen in the last couple of years—Biomass Traders. Materials Exchanges provide an
important public service. We hope that you'll take advantage of them! Residential Swap Shops at Recycling Centers
and Transfer Stations, and community-based online swap shops are not included in this listing. Examples of on-line
community swap shops are Craigslist and Freecycle.

CalRecycle's CalMAX portal connects businesses, organizations, manufacturers, schools, and individuals with the
most effective online resources for exchanging materials. One business' trash is another business' treasure. By reusing
materials, we conserve energy, resources, and landfill space, while reducing disposal, green house gas emissions, and
purchasing costs. CalRecycle no longer lists individual materials available for exchange because the provided
resources offer better online options. These resources include material exchange information for communities,
businesses, schools, and by material type, as well as, tips for using these tools.

Pacific Northwest Pollution Prevention Resource Center ResourceFull Use - Industries and manufacturers
commonly produce wastes that other businesses could use. A lack of inter-business communication prevents efficient
use of resources. The ResourceFull Use program was started to help turn one business’ trash into another’s treasure.
ResourceFull Use provides manufacturers and industry with workshops and a website-based mechanism to assess
resource needs and actively exchange resources (e.g., use the waste of one organization as an input for another). The
result is the creation of a sustainable eco-industrial community. Benefits are improved economic viability through
reduced waste, improved resource efficiencies and cost savings, and a reduced environmental footprint achieved
through decreased emissions (CO2 and other greenhouse gases) and pollution.

Hi KC; They haven’t posted the revised list yet, it should be posted pretty soon. I just got an update from California,
last week and there were some questions on whether some of the National Waste Exchanges which were originally
on the list should be posted or not because some were privately run. I’ve attached the latest version, let me know if
you have any changes for Connecticut. .
Judy, Do you know when the latest update of the Materials Exchange list will be posted?

Hi Mike,
Just deleting old emails and came across this one. I see that they have not posted the changes yet. I can’t find what I
sent you for CT edits, but I know that what is on the EPA website now is incorrect. If you can’t find what I sent you,
let me know and I’ll look further. Thanks, KC
