Formation refers to IGNEOUS, METAMORPHIC or SEDIMENTARY
Classification refers to Intrusive, Extrusive, Foliated, Non-foliated, Clastic, Chemical, or Organic
Directions: Use the diagram on the back, your notes and the FORMATIONS project paper to help you
complete the following:
Section 1: Your Rock TODAY
A. Examples. On your FORMATIONS paper, you completed information for the classification of
rock you have (intrusive, extrusive, foliated/non-foliated, clastic/chemical or organic). Using
your notes, cite examples of specific rocks that are similar to your rock (if your rock is a foliated
metamorphic rock, give me some examples of foliated metamorphic rocks).
