John Kitchens CFI, CFEI, CVFI, PI, CFM – Senior Fire Investigator
o John Kitchens is a Certified Fire Investigator (IAAI), Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator
(NAFI) and Certified Vehicle Fire Investigator (NAFI) with over 40 years of experience. He has
been the lead investigator at more than 3,000 fire scenes and has testified as an expert witness on
more than 100 occasions regarding fire origin and cause, has provided similar testimony in over 100
depositions and has been an expert witness regarding fire codes and the application of codes.
Steve Yamashita BSME – Senior Forensic Engineer
o Steve Yamashita is a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in product failure analysis, accident
investigations, load and stress testing, engineering design analysis, and fire origin and cause
investigations. His specialties include aerospace, ground transportation, facilities and the
construction industries.
Shawn Ray PE, ACTAR, ASE, CFEI, CFII – Principal, Mechanical Engineer
o Shawn Ray is a company Principal and Mechanical Engineer with extensive experience in accident
reconstruction, mechanical evaluation, design evaluation and failure analysis. One of the many
things that sets Mr. Ray apart from his colleagues is the amount of independent research and analysis
he conducts.

o Paul Way is a company Principal and Electrical engineer with extensive experience in both electrical
and mechanical engineering, design, and failure analysis. His casework experience includes product
failure analysis, residential, commercial, marine and industrial fire and explosion investigations,
heavy equipment accidents and failures, electrocution and electric shock investigations, and
appliance fire and failure investigations. He provides litigation support and expert testimony to law
firms, insurance companies and manufacturers.
Chris Warren BS-FI, CREI, CVFI – Fire Investigator
o Chris Warren is a Fire Investigator with over 10 years of experience in fire service, ranging from
Forestry Technician to Deputy Fire Marshal and holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Fire and Safety
Engineering with an emphasis in Fire, Arson and Explosion Investigations.
Allen Zachry PE, SE – Principal, Structural Engineer, Manager
o Allen Zachry is a company Principal and Structural Engineer who performs forensic investigations
for clients that focus on determining cause and extent of damages to a building’s structural systems,
architectural finishes, and weathering envelope. He has a thorough understanding of building codes
and construction documentation, and evaluates new and existing structures for conformance with
design documents and building code requirements.
