Biology MTD Scheme 2013/14 Criteria DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGY ‘MAKING THE DIFFERENCE’ SCHEME CRITERIA FOR AWARDS The Making the Difference scheme is intended to reward those who have demonstrated outstanding achievement or excellence in the short-term which has been of such a high standard that it has made a difference to students, customers, colleagues, the Department or the University as a whole. The exceptional contribution may have been made within the normal role of the individual or team but at a level demonstrably greater in the short-term than would normally be expected or it may have been made through taking on short-term responsibilities or tasks outside the individual’s or teams normal role. The MTD panel will be looking for evidence of exceptional contribution within the following categories. Suggestion or design of an innovative approach or solution for the improvement to a working practice or process within the team/unit/section/Department /University. Outstanding performance in handling a crisis, emergency or one-off event and/or in overcoming significant adversity. Outstanding performance of duties to a level of excellence that stands as a role model to others. Outstanding contribution to customer service that enhances the reputation of the team/unit/section/Department/University. Outstanding contribution to promoting equal opportunity among staff or students and/or supporting participation from disadvantaged groups. Outstanding contribution that significantly improves the financial situation of the team/unit/section/Department/University. Outstanding contribution that significantly improves the environmental performance of the team/unit/section/Department/University. Significantly improves Health and Safety within an environment.
