Dear Parents and Community Members:
We are pleased to present you with the Annual Education Report (AER)
which provides key information on the 2013-2014 educational progress for
Carrollton Elementary. The AER addresses the complex reporting
information required by federal and state laws. The school’s report contains
information about student assessment, accountability and teacher quality.
If you have any questions about the AER, please contact Sarah Coates for
assistance.
The AER is available for you to review electronically by visiting the following
web site http://www.carrolltonpublicschools.org or you may review a copy
in the principal’s office at your child’s school.
The state has identified some schools with the status of Reward, Focus or
Priority. A Reward school is one that is outperforming other schools in
achievement, growth, or is performing better than other schools with a
similar student population. A Focus school is one that has a large
achievement gap in 30% of its student achievement scores. A Priority school
is one whose achievement and growth is in the lowest 5% of all schools in
the state. Our school has not been given any of these labels.
The key challenges at Carrollton Elementary include the high poverty rate
and the performance gaps among different demographic groups. To close
the gaps we have implemented a Multi-tiered System of Support. We
regularly assess and monitor student progress and adjust our instructional
strategies to meet student needs. We have purchased additional technology
to enhance instruction for students and our staff receives high quality
professional development provided by specialists. In addition, our staff is
receiving collaborates as a Professional Learning Community to analyze
student performance and identify high quality instructional practices.
State law requires that we also report additional information for the two
most recent years for the following areas:

Description of the School
Carrollton Elementary serves students in PreK-5th grade. CES provides high quality education curriculum that
meets the needs of all students in the 21st century. In addition to a rigorous core, students receive instruction
in art, music, technology and physical education.
Process for Assigning Pupils to the School
All district pupils in PreK-5 are assigned to Carrollton Elementary School since there is only one building in this
district that serves this grade span of pupils. Students may also be assigned to this building for a program
offered that better meets their educational needs.
Status of 3-5 Year School Improvement Plan
A copy of the School Improvement Plan is available in the elementary office upon request. The School
Improvement Team, composed of several focus groups, meets regularly during the school year. The purpose
of the team is to develop, review and evaluate goals, objectives and strategies for the School Improvement
Plan. The School Improvement Team facilitates the continuous collection and analysis of academic
assessment data to guide instruction and evaluate progress toward student achievement goals.
