De Mujer a Mujer: Latina Assistance Program Executive Board Application What is “De Mujer a Mujer”? De Mujer a Mujer: Latina Assistance Program (LAP): Promotes programs specific to the needs of Latinas including support, academic guidance, and leadership opportunities that enhance students' retention and graduation. Program Objectives 1. To establish a positive and professional support network for Latinas. 2. To promote education, career, personal, and leadership development. 3. To increase cultural, gender role, and service learning awareness. What is the mission? The mission of "De Mujer a Mujer" is to provide academic support that will increase the retention and graduation rates of Latinas at Northern Illinois University by providing programs, activities and leadership opportunities that foster self-confidence, self-awareness, and self-esteem. Duties of Executive Board Positions: In an effort to uphold the mission of “De Mujer a Mujer,” our program is interested in developing an executive board to effectively serve the needs of our Latina students. If you are interested in holding an official position for this program, please review the duties/responsibilities for each position and select the position you would like to be considered for. A. The President/Student Director person shall: POSITION FILLED Preside at meetings and the Executive Board. Attend the De Mujer a Mujer program/eboard meetings Represent the program at all functions which require representation Set the agenda for the all program/eboard meetings Meet regularly with the LRC Assistant Director B. The Vice President/Student Assistant Director person shall: Assume duties of the President/Student Director in her absence. Presides at program meeting in the absence of the President/Student Director. Serves as an assistant to the President/Student Director. Other duties as assigned. C. The Public Relations/Marketing person shall: Handles all public relations for the program Maintain Facebook page for the program Organize and update the content/photos on LAP Facebook page De Mujer a Mujer: Latina Assistance Program Executive Board Application Send reminders about upcoming meetings/events via LAP Facebook page Create and post flyers about the program and related events Take photos at each meeting/event and post on Facebook Other duties as assigned. D. The Community Service person shall: Responsible for coming up with ideas for community service Finding members to participate Other duties as assigned. E. The Secretary shall: Record minutes at all meetings (including eboard meetings). Maintain accurate records of attendance (roll) for program meetings. Notifies all members of any changes in scheduling and meetings. Keep all members informed through email/GroupMe/facebook. Make copies of agenda/handouts for each LAP meeting. Supply any information to the board and general members. Other duties as assigned. TIME OBLIGATIONS: 1. Executive Board meeting once a week (at a time discussed at a later date) 2. Attend all De Mujer a Mujer meetings on Wednesdays from 5-6 pm (time is subject to change) 3. Other weekly meetings/events as assigned.
