and support! Keep in mind that strong parental participation models service for our children and shares in
our mission of education and community.

Expectation: Room parents are the contact persons for each of the Head Teachers. This role requires
assisting the Head Teacher in organizing special events, preparing items for the classroom, and calling other
parents for additional support when needed. Time commitment=1 hour a month.
I. Committees
Committees are the backbone of our parent/family involvement program. We ask that you please
sign-up for at least one of the following committees. Please check below:
Fundraising
I am willing to be the Spiritwear Chair (Fall/Spring): Christopher Pawlowski
I am willing to be the BOX TOPS coordinator: Angela Johnson
Expectation: Chairpersons for these events are responsible for communicating with the vendors,
distributing order forms, collecting monies, organizing items and arranging for distribution.
Time commitment: 10 hours for Spiritwear.
I am willing to work on the Spiritwear committee (1 hour, Sept./1 hour March) _______
Hospitality
1. I am willing to be the Hospitality Chair

Expectation: Chairperson is responsible for purchasing and setting up snacks for parent
education events once a month and as needed. Time commitment: 2 hours a month

Expectation: (September) Secure venue site, organize event, recruit parent support, attend event
Time commitment: 4 hours

4. I am willing to organize XU Family Soccer/Basketball Night/or family sporting event

Expectation: (Feb.) Contact Xavier AD to obtain discounted tickets for event, prepare order
form for parents, collect monies, attend event. Time commitment: 4 hours
5. I am willing to organize the Multi Cultural End of Year Feast:
Anna Rehrer
Expectation: (May) Organize event by preparing communication to parents, work with
committee to provide multi cultural activities and crafts for children, purchase supplies for crafts
and feast (paper goods, water), arrange for set up and clean up, arrange for food dishes for feast.
Time Commitment: 6 hours

IV. Scholastic Book Orders
I am willing to help with the book order:

Expectation: This is a two person shared position. Collect vendor forms from school, coordinate with
principal order due dates, send forms to parents, collect parent orders, place orders with vendor, distribute
books to families via school. Time commitment: 2 hours per month
V. School Library
I am willing to chair the school library____________________
Expectation: Must be fingerprinted. Prepare and maintain library for student use, repair books as needed,
recommend books that may be added to library or may need to be replaced, organize volunteers to work
library one morning a week Time commitment: 1-2 hours per month
I am willing to work as a library aid__________________
Expectation: One morning per month, support children in choosing and checking out library books, help
maintain area. Time commitment: 1 1/2 hours
VI. Service Project

Expectation: Research community and local needs that align with the Xavier mission and Montessori
philosophy of being in service to one another for the betterment of humankind. Meet with Principal and
faculty to discuss, plan, coordinate, and implement service projects that the children and families at the Lab
School may participate in. Time commitment: 1-2 hours monthly or as needed for event

VII. Newsletter
I am willing to chair a child-driven quarterly newsletter: Susan Jackson
Expectation: To meet with newsletter committee, teachers, and students to facilitate an all school
newsletter. Time commitment: 3-4 hours a quarter semester.

VIII. Social Committee
