LIBERAL ARTS
GUIDE TO RESOURCES
The library has many resources for liberal arts research aside from our book collection.
The following are several resources available online through the library’s website at http://bco.kohalibrary.com
Select “Internet Resources” on the left, and follow the links for on-campus (in the library) or off-campus access. Off-campus
access requires your TBC e-mail username and password.
InfoTrac – Library subscription database package; contains dozens of databases; each database varies by topic (literature,
medicine, history, general reference) and content (academic journal articles, news and magazine articles, e-books)
Gale Virtual Reference Library – Contains full-text searchable basic reference e-books in many subjects,
including medicine, religion, science, art, politics, history and more
Academic OneFile – Contains full-text searchable scholarly journal articles (with abstracts) about physical sciences,
technology, medicine, social sciences, the arts, theology, literature and other subjects
General OneFile – Contains full-text searchable news and magazine articles about business, computers, current
events, economics, education, environmental issues, health care, hobbies, humanities, law, literature and art, politics,
science, social science, sports, technology, and many general interest topics
Academic ASAP – Contains full-text searchable news, magazine AND scholarly journal articles about all academic
topics; many titles overlap with Academic OneFile and General OneFile.
General Reference Center Gold – Contains full-text searchable newspapers, magazines, reference e-books and
other trade publications; browsable by subject
Health Reference Center Academic – Contains full-text searchable nursing and allied health journals
Educator’s Reference Complete – Contains full-text searchable education journal articles, governmental reports,
and reference e-books; many reports are from the ERIC database published by the US government
JSTOR – Library subscription database; contains thousands of full-text searchable scholarly journals (no abstracts); soon to
include full-text e-books from selected scholarly presses; contents also indexed in Google searches; NOTES: most titles have a
“moving wall” where the most recent 3-5 years of issues are not available; different libraries purchase different JSTOR packages
(denoted with yellow and green symbols), so try a Boston Public Library card if our library doesn’t have an article you want
NETlibrary – Library subscription database; contains thousands of full-text searchable e-books on various subjects
