MANAGER CHECKLIST
We are excited to launch our new performance management cycle this year! We look forward to
supporting you every step of the way.
As USC transitions to the new consistent performance management cycle for the 2014-2015 year, we
invite you to refer to the checklists below to help you prepare for your academic/administrative units’
performance management rollout.
GOAL SETTING (PHASE 1: PLAN)
April - June
GOAL SETTING IN WORKDAY
Trojan Learn
 Complete the Performance Management (Manager) Phase 1: PLAN curricula in Trojan Learn*
 Refer to the Manager and Employee Quick Reference Guide and E-learning video housed in
Trojan Learn explaining how to complete goal setting in Workday*
Workday
 Review and approve goals in Workday for your employee(s) once you receive the task in your
Workday inbox
NOTE: A 6-month notification for the Mid-Year check-in will appear in your Workday
inbox 6 months from the date you received your goal setting template
 You will also receive a task in your Workday inbox to complete the goal setting template for
yourself in Workday
* This training may have been assigned to you by your HR Partner. Alternatively, you may enroll yourself
in Trojan Learn.
PERFORMANCE REVIEWS (PHASE 4: EVALUATE)
January -March
Option 1: PERFORMANCE REVIEWS IN WORKDAY

 Complete the Performance Management (Manager) Phase 4: EVALUATE curricula in Trojan
Learn*
NOTE: Complete the Performance Management (Non-Manager) Phase 4: EVALUATE
curricula for additional learning assets to help understand the performance review
process as an Employee
 Refer to the Manager and Employee Quick Reference Guide and E-learning video housed in
Trojan Learn explaining how to complete a performance review in Workday*
Workday
 Complete your Employee’s performance review in Workday once you receive the task in your
Workday inbox
NOTE: In order to proceed, you must either request feedback or skip this task
 Schedule a one-on-one meeting with your Employee to discuss the performance review
 Complete your Manager Self-Evaluation in Workday once you receive the task in your Workday
inbox

Option 2: PERFORMANCE REVIEWS USING PAPER FORMS (WORKDAY OR NON-WORKDAY)
