Mazie Mead’s W e l ln es s H ou se In 1978 Mazie Meade was diagnosed with lymphoma and breast cancer. She was given six months to live. Not accepting that expiration date, she spent the next ten years learning about opportunities to improve and lengthen her life. Mazie visited numerous places and programs focused on "wellness" and benefits to cancer patients. This included a visit to the Wellness Supporting cancer patients and others with a life-challenging illness, offering over 30 support groups for free. Community in Santa Monica, CA. Mazie saw what she knew Yakima needed - a safe, comfortable place where individuals diagnosed with cancer could come together for support, information and hope. Ten years after her diagnosis, 1988, Mazie and a group of good friends started Wellness House. Now, 20 years later, Wellness House maintains Mazie's dream.
