Congratulations on your graduation from Tri-State University! Graduation ceremonies will be
held on May 14, 2016, to celebrate graduates for these semesters: Summer 2015, Fall 2015, and
Spring 2016. The graduation ceremonies will be an enjoyable and memorable occasion for you,
your family, and your friends.
Graduation Registration
Although you filled out the graduation application form last semester, you must now register to
reserve your seat at the graduation ceremonies. To register, (1) stop by the Graduation Office in
the Administration Building, (2) call 801.555.1234, or (3) complete the online graduation
registration form on TSUS’s home page.
Commencement
The main graduation ceremony is commencement, which is a formal procession. TSUS
encourages all graduates to participate in commencement. You will hear speeches from the
TSUS President, TSUS’s Professor of the Year, and the TSUS Student Senate President. More
importantly, the official bestowing of degrees takes place during commencement.
Commencement will be held at 10:30 a.m. on May 14, 2015, at the TSUS Stadium. Please be at
the East entrance by 9:30 a.m. to form the processional lines.
Convocations
Each TSUS college (Arts and Humanities, Business, Education, Engineering, and Science) holds
a separate convocation ceremony. Students attend the convocation based on which college
supports their majors. Each graduate’s name is announced as he or she walks across the stage
during convocation.
Cap and Gown Orders
To participate in the graduation ceremonies, you must wear officially recognized
caps and gowns. You place your cap and gown order when you register with the
Graduation Office. You may pay for your cap and gown rental with a check,
credit card, or debit card. The deadline for graduation registration and cap and
gown orders is March 28. You may pick up your cap and gown starting on May 9
at the Graduation Office.
Graduation Announcements
The TSUS Bookstore has sample graduation announcements for you to see. Order forms are
available at the Customer Service Desk. The deadline for ordering graduation announcements is
March 1 so that you will receive your announcements by April 1.
