TB Training Roadmap Overview Purpose This Roadmap is a tool to guide public health nurses as they learn information needed to work in TB. There are many TB resources available. The list below includes our recommendations for a nurse new to TB. They are listed to build upon each other, and yet can be used in any order. The following materials include both Training Materials and Resource Materials: Training materials are designed to build knowledge, skills, or competencies in the public health workforce. This may include self-study modules or curricula, online courses or webinars or other materials. Resource materials are books, brochures, articles, posters, reminder cards, and other materials that may be very useful in your learning about TB, but are not designed specifically for instructional use. They may also be used as materials for patient education. A wider list of these kinds of materials can be found at www.findtbresources.org. This document is hyperlinked to make materials more accessible. To use the hyperlinks, you must access this Roadmap electronically. You can access the hyperlinks in two ways: a) Put your cursor on the blue text and click. The document will open in another browser. b) Right click on the blue text. In the drop-down menu, select “open hyperlink.” Supervisor Instructions: Select which Roadmap materials you want your employee to review by checking the appropriate boxes. You can also edit this Word document to create a personalized learning guide; add or delete materials to suit your employee’s needs. For example, you can delete a line in the table for topics that are not relevant for your employee. You can also add lines; for example, add your local/state policies and forms. Remind your employee the Roadmap can be completed over a period of time; it is not intended to be finished in one day. Employee Instructions: Give this form to your supervisor and ask them to suggest which materials you should review. Once you have a customized Roadmap Training Plan, go through the materials at your own pace and keep track of when you’ve reviewed them. The Roadmap can be completed over a period of time; it is not intended to be finished in one day. 1 TB Training Roadmap Training Agreement Employee Name: ______________________________________ Supervisor Name: ______________________________________ The Supervisor agrees to: Assess the employee’s learning needs for tuberculosis education Review the Roadmap materials Identify Roadmap materials that are most relevant and appropriate to the employee’s learning needs Check off the materials for the employee to review, using the Roadmap Training Plan to create a personalized learning guide by adding and deleting resources as needed Share the Roadmap Training Plan with the employee Discuss suggested completion dates for each material Assess employee learning by discussing the materials with the employee -ask what they have learned and if they have any questions Provide support and guidance to the employee Allow time for the employee to review the materials Review and sign the completed Roadmap Training Plan The Employee agrees to: Share your learning needs with your supervisor or mentor Get a personalized Roadmap Training Plan from your supervisor or mentor Review Roadmap learning materials at your own pace Ask questions or make a list of questions to ask your mentor or supervisor when you meet with them Document when you have completed each material Sign the completed Roadmap Training Plan and share with your supervisor This is not a contract but a training agreement.
