The review process begins as applications are received. The application deadline is February 9, 2015. The program runs from June 10 – July 25, 2014. (Aspire is closed July 3rd for the Fourth of July.) Attendance at two or three evening events during the summer is also required. Eligibility: The Alumnae Program Intern position is open to college freshman who are interested in careers in education, nonprofit management and special event planning. A passion for working with young people, and significant mentoring and leadership experience are preferred qualifications for this position. Compensation: Negotiable and based on experience Description of the Academy Teacher position Aspire is seeking a responsible, creative individual for the position of Alumnae Program Intern. The Alumnae Program Intern supports the 9th grade Academy Teachers by assisting in the facilitation of that program. The Alumnae Program Intern also supports the program leadership in a number of essential elements of the core program. Finally, the Alumnae Program Intern is responsible for the planning and execution of the annual Aspire Alumnae Homecoming event in July. Primary responsibilities for the Alumnae Program Intern are: 1. Aspire Alumnae Homecoming & Magazine Plan and execute the Aspire alumnae homecoming. Coordinate speakers & schedules, create advertisements and manage RSVPs, order supplies and organize logistics. Gather data on program alumnae, interview program graduates and write articles for the alumnae magazine. 2. 9th Grade Academy Serve as a support to Academy Teachers in the planning and implementation of that program. These supports includes teaching and mentoring middle school students, assisting with supportive tasks, reflecting and discussing student progress and program development. The Alumnae Program Intern will offer some Activity & Choice periods, assist with morning meetings, and help establish a positive tone and feeling of community. The Intern will also assist with other supportive tasks such as: greeting/saying goodbye to students, helping with lunch and snack, and other tasks as necessary. The Alumnae Program Intern will also regularly participate in meetings and special events outside of the school day (specifically Family Night and Closing Ceremony). 3. Administrative functions The Alumnae Program Intern will also support the Assistant to the Director and the Director with other administrative tasks, such as copying, answering telephones, hanging fliers, etc. 4. Teach an Aspire workshop Alumnae Program Intern offers a 50-minute workshop on a topic of their choosing.
