Vision:
Coordinate opportunities to meet the chapter’s philanthropic goals.
Role:
Responsible for coordinating and scheduling events for the general
membership to attend to support the chapter’s service and philanthropy
goals.
Committee:
Yes, the Service Committee which includes the Founders Day
Chairwoman and any other service/philanthropy event coordinators.
Budget:
Yes, confirm amount with Treasurer at start of office term.
Events:
Yes, at least one dedicated event with a service, donation, or fundraising component to benefit a non-profit organization of the chapter’s
choosing.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and schedule at least one event benefitting a philanthropic
organization.
Actively solicit contributions (financial, products, and time) from
members and the community to support philanthropic events.
Investigate opportunities for the chapter to “make a difference” by
supporting local, national, or Theta-endorsed charitable causes.
Participate in creating the chapter’s events calendar and programming
for the Portland Alumnae Chapter so it can be communicated to the
membership.
Coordinate with other officers to schedule events and combine efforts
where and when possible (e.g. President-elect/Member Outreach,
Collegiate Relations, etc.).
Recruit hostesses to provide food, beverages, and materials (e.g.
cutlery), and/or homes/locations for planned events.
Manage the chapter’s 501(c)3 charitable status, with the support of the
Treasurer, as needed.
Collaborate with the Secretary to ensure notes of appreciation are
written and sent to hostesses, and any helpers promptly following the
event.
Train the following year’s officer during the Officers’ Training Workshop
(OTW) and providing any necessary ad hoc consultation.
Provide receipts promptly to Treasurer for reimbursement and ensure
others who financially support the events do the same.
Provide input to the Treasurer on budget requirements for the following
year.
Update any resources and consolidate any information or helpful tips
gained during year of office to share with next year’s officer.

Requirements:
Scheduling 1+ events/year
4-10 hours/event + attendance
Scheduling additional events

Be a dues-paying member of the Portland Alumnae chapter.
Attend Alumnae chapter board meetings, when possible. Send reports
to Secretary and President before meeting, particularly if not attending.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Pleasing manner, willingness to be actively involved in events and
desire to interact with others.
Ability to ascertain what types of events/activities a diverse group of
women would enjoy in order to ensure good participation.
