Holbrook Public Schools: Title I Program District Wide Family Engagement Policy To increase and improve parent involvement, the Holbrook Public Schools will: Actively involve and engage parents/guardians in the planning, review, and evaluation of the effectiveness of the school’s Title I program. Ensure that the Title I funds allocated for parent involvement are utilized to implement activities and strategies as described in our Parent Involvement Policy and the Teacher-Parent/GuardianStudent Compact. Host the Title I Annual Parent Meeting in October of each school year to advise parents/guardians of children participating in the Title I Program about the school’s Title I funded program (s), their right to be involved in the program and the parent involvement requirements under Title I, Part A, Section 1118 and other applicable sections under the No Child Left Behind Act. Schedule additional educational family events/activities throughout each school year. Provide written progress reports that are given with the same frequency as report cards to keep parents/guardians informed about school activities and student progress. Provide a copy of the Teacher-Parent/Guardian-Student Compact that outlines the responsibilities of the teacher, parent/guardian, and student. Conduct with parents/guardians an annual evaluation (survey) to design strategies for more effective parental involvement and revise the parental involvement policies if necessary. The Holbrook Public Schools will: Provide high quality curriculum and instruction consistent and aligned to Common Core State Standards to meet state standards and assessments. Provide instruction by highly qualified teachers. Provide parents with Parent’s Right to Know Letter to inform qualifications of staff working with child. Provide parents with a written Parental Involvement Policy. Conduct parent-teacher conferences at least twice a year. Respect the rights of ELL families to receive translated documents and interpretation services in order to ensure participation in the child’s education. Create a safe, supportive and effective learning community for students and a welcoming respectful environment for parents and guardians. Assist parents in understanding academic achievement standards and assessments (Common Core/MCAS).
