Xicotepec Project Service-Learning Trip Scholarship Award
2015
The Career Leadership Academy’s (CLA) innovative mission is to provide students from across campus with
the opportunity to develop their leadership and communication skills. Because of the growing demand for
employees who possess global leadership skills, CLA has expanded its focus to include developing the skill set
and competence necessary to be successful in global leadership roles through courses that can be taken while
a student is studying abroad.
Global Leadership Initiative in Xicotepec is an academic course connected to an international service-learning
spring break trip that was developed by Career Leadership Academy staff, UI faculty, and the Iowa Rotary Club
District 6000. This course, allows CLA students to explore leadership from a global perspective before, during

for students to travel as part of this service-learning and global leadership skill development trip. Via this
application form, CLA Students can apply for Rockwell Collins scholarship awards of $1,400 per student to cover
