BALLYMONEY BOROUGH COUNCIL Specification for the supply of 1 No. 3,500kg track excavator GENERAL DESCRIPTION A nominal 3500kg rubber tracked excavator capable of excavating a vertical ended trench 2500mm deep at a horizontal outreach of 3700mm from the centre of the slew ring, over the side of the tracks, when fitted with a quick hitch and standard profile digging bucket, or by, and only after agreement, a suitable grave-digging profile bucket . The primary purpose of the excavator being grave digging to a depth of 8 feet within the constraints of a Lawn Cemetery. ENGINE, HYDRAULICS and TRANSMISSION Fitted with a diesel engine of nominal 25HP/20kW driving a combination of load sensing hydraulic pumps, with a combined flow of 100litres/min, such that simultaneous control of swing, boom, dipper arm and bucket operation is possible. Double acting auxiliary hydraulic circuit, providing 40litres/min to the end of the dipper arm, flow rate and direction controlled by joystick mounted switches, with 3rd line hydraulic return for auxiliary attachments. A two speed control switch for transmission travel speed to be control lever mounted. HOSE ROUTING/ PROTECTION, and automatic QUICK HITCH A sliding steel “V” guard to protect the boom cylinder. Dipper arm and bucket ram hydraulic fittings and hoses to be protected by being located between the rams and boom/dipper arm respectively. Hydraulic hoses to be routed within the width of the boom to facilitate bucket visibility. A proprietary automatic quick hitch to be fitted and plumbed such that the operator(alone) may safely change buckets or attachments without leaving the cab. Such hitch as fitted to meet all current and pending safety regulations. CAB and CONTROLS To current required FOPS/ROPS standards, with wipers, heater/de-frosting, full suspension seat, with seat mounted wrist rest control levels/joysticks, seatbelt, roof mounted Xenon beacon, work lights, retractable (gas strut assisted) upper and removable lower front windows. SAFETY FUNCTIONS Anti-fall/safety check valves to boom, dipper arm and dozer blade in case of hose failure. All hydraulic functions to be isolated and locked by the raising of the left console/operator control safety lever so as to enter or leave the cab. Automatic slew brake, applying when engine stopped or console/operator control lever is raised. Hydraulic matching system to maintain straight travel for safe loading/unloading even with the simultaneous use of any other hydraulic circuit. ENVIRONMENTAL FEATURES An auto-idling system, such that if controls are not touched for 3-5 seconds the engine revs drop back to tick over, but instantly revert to previous set revs when next moved. The hydraulic system to use bio-degradable hydraulic fluid. SELECTION OF BUCKETS, for dedicated quick hitch use. High capacity 750mm smooth faced “builders” bucket for filling loose materials 250/300mm wide draining bucket 1700/1800/1900/2000mm wide sheugh bucket (check best width) All buckets to be weld marked BBC44 for identification DESIRABLE EXTRAS Air conditioning, if only available at extra cost, please state fitted cost. DELIVERY The vehicle shall be delivered to the Council’s Depot at 44 Knock Road, Ballymoney. The Tenderer will note that the period required for delivery shall be stated clearly on the tender document. In the event of delivery being delayed for more than four weeks an equivalent loan vehicle shall be provided free of charge. TRAINING Comprehensive training for 6 No staff including a working demonstration of all supplied attachments to be provided on the day of delivery. PAINTING Standard factory specification paintwork is acceptable, all non-proprietary ancillaries and supplied attachments to be painted black with good quality 2-pack primer and topcoat. Extended warranty periods offered must be complete with details. TECHNICAL Tenderers must submit a full specification for the excavator as tendered, at the time the tender is lodged with the Council. MAINTENANCE A Parts List, Service Manual, Workshop Manual and full written instructions shall be supplied for the vehicle, any fitted equipment and attachments as specified. The Council shall not be bound to accept the lowest or any tender.
