New Commercialization Program under OMAF/MRA-UG Partnership
The UofG Office of the Associate VP, Research, Strategic Partnerships, is launching a
new program under the UofG-OMAF/MRA-UofG Partnership in the winter semester
of 2014. The initiative will be targeted at providing GAP funding to support
transformative research, development and commercialization projects that are
focused on innovative technologies (eg. products, processes, services, knowledge,
etc.) across the agri-food and rural portfolio, and for which funding is not normally
accessible through other programs.
Proponents will be required to submit a short, written statement of a business case
for their proposed project, and projects shortlisted from these submissions will be
selected for oral presentation to an assessment committee (The Gryphon's Lair)
who will make the final selections. Specific program plans and eligibility are still
being developed, and a short faculty ‘town hall’ meeting was held on December 19,
2013 to provide a forum for introducing the plans and answering questions from
interested researchers. The formal call for business case outlines will take place in
early 2014, with funding decisions made before April 30, 2014.
