Dear Parents and Carers
Please find below information regarding our staffing and classes for 2015-2016:
I am delighted that my secondment as Acting Head Teacher to Lasswade Primary has been extended to March
2016. I look forward to working with all of our families and the wider community to support our pupils’ learning
and achievement.
Congratulations to Miss Gilchrist and Miss Adams who recently qualified from their ‘probationary’ teaching
year. This is a huge achievement and I would like to thank them both for their commitment and dedication to
Lasswade Primary. Both members of staff have been successful in recent interviews and have both gained a
permanent contract with Midlothian Council. Miss Adams will remain with us here at Lasswade whilst Miss
Gilchrist will start at Lawfield Primary in August.
Congratulations also to Miss Skilling who starts a new post at St David’s Primary in Dalkeith in August. I would
like to thank her also for her commitment and contribution to our school over the last year and we wish her
every success.
Miss Lenaghen and Mrs Todd will be joining us as our NQTs (Newly Qualified Teachers).
We look forward to welcoming back Mrs Ramsay from maternity leave.
We welcome Mrs Nicola Roy, currently at Woodburn Primary School to Lasswade Primary School.
This year we have once again 14 classes. I have been given 15 class teachers as we have 58 P1 pupils starting
with us in August. They will be organised into 2 classes with 3 teachers to ensure that our ratio is maintained.

On Wednesday 10th June our current P1-P6 pupils will spend an afternoon with their new teacher in their new
class area. This will enable them to get to know their teacher a little better. I am sure everyone involved will
enjoy this experience. Parents, please note that children will be dismissed from their new class areas at the
end of the day.
Before the end of term all class teachers will have a comprehensive ‘handover time’, during which they tell the
new teacher about their class, their abilities, groups and any specific details about individuals.
