Chapter Program of Work
School: Tucson High Magnet School
Program: FBLA
Advisor: Mona Rutherford
The program of work includes all those activities in which your members want to be
involved. It is important that the program of work be based upon the collective ideas of
the total membership. "Students will support what they help create" is a valid
observation. If the chapter officers or the chapter advisor designs the program of work,
the members may not be committed to the activities. By involving all members in the
development of the program of work, the activities will receive greater acceptance by
the chapter. Balance is an important quality in evaluating a chapter's program of work.
The program of work should provide equal emphasis on the following types of activities.





Leadership development activities
Social activities
Community service activities
Career preparation activities
Fundraising activities

Chapter Program of Work
Chapter goals and the activities created to meet that end should be student initiated; student directed, and
carried out by students. The chapter advisor should help the chapter officers get all members involved.
Throughout the year, assignments should be made so that all students are given leadership and followership
responsibilities.
Sample goals:
 Goal #1: Recruitment: To recruit and retain chapter members.
 Goal #2: Fundraising: To raise money to support local, state, and national events for
chapter members.
 Goal #3: Projects: To support community, state, and national projects.
 Goal #4: Public Relations: To spread the word about (Your CTSO) throughout the
school, state, and community!
 Goal #5: Community Service
 Goal #6: Other
A minimum of Three Student Directed CHAPTER EVENTS should be included as ACTIONS in the forms that follow. Student Directed CHAPTER
EVENTS take place outside of class time. CHAPTER EVENTS are open to all members and should include elements of leadership, recruiting,
career prep, community, or align with a chapter goal. State CTSO Sanctioned events are not Chapter Events because they are not events run by
your chapter. Events limited to technical skills, such as photo students taking pictures or going on a field trip during school is not a CHAPTER
EVENT.
