All features of the “individual premium membership” account type, plus the ability to add/remove students. Read-only access; membership hidden from other members and member directory. Product Promo (from the vendor): The bottom line benefit we see is that the student will have access to iATN's KnowledgeBase where they can look up member generated in-use repairs, troubleshooting, diagnostic best practices and more. The beauty here is that each student has their own account where they can log into the site from anywhere. After they graduate, they will be given the opportunity to graduate their account into a full professional account. If the student uses iATN as a resource, we would hope that he/she would continue leverage our resources making them a more valuable asset for their employer. We highly recommend watching our video "Learn how to manage your sub-accounts" http://www.iatn.net/video/premium/sub-accounts.mp4/view.aspx For additional educator documentation and worksheets, please visit the following link: http://members.iatn.net/forums/read/msg.aspx?f=forum7&m=33934&sr=1&kw We also have additional videos for instructors and students that will be helpful in navigating the site: http://www.iatn.net/video/ Setup Procedure There can only be one master account. The name/email on the master account can’t change, so it should be someone fairly permanent – the vendor recommends a senior faculty member or the Dean of the program, but perhaps the library would be better (under the name Centennial Library, and email library@centennialcollege.ca). Once the master account is established, the user on that account can create an instructor sub-account and then assign all admin privileges to that user, so they needn’t be the person going forward who actually administers the account. Only accounts with full admin privileges can create instructor subaccounts. (All instructors can “invite” their colleagues, but their name will show up as “pending” in the admin back-end until a user with full admin privileges turns them on.) Once the master and instructor accounts are set up, any instructor can go in and generate a code to send to their students so that their students can set up their own accounts. The code is good for all students but it’s only valid for six months, after which point it must be regenerated. When a student clicks on the code, they’re brought to the iATN sign-up page and when they submit the sign-up form their account is automatically created under the college’s account. Student and instructor accounts never expire. A user with full admin privileges must go in periodically to remove old accounts. Students who have graduated and removed from Centennial’s account are still recognized by the iATN system, but they’ll be prompted to contact Customer Support in order to migrate their account to the standard individual account type, if they qualify. (Individual membership is only available to automotive service professionals with 4 years’ work experience or ASE certification.) Steps: 1. Sign up for a free account here: https://join.iatn.net/simple/. You will be asked for credit card information but select “free account” instead – do not fill out the credit card info. This account will eventually morph into your master account, so use the email address and name you would like associated with your master account. Use the relevant campus’ street address, though, instead of the library’s address. The address is important because it ties all the sub-accounts to the college account. 2. Contact iATN support to turn your free account into an institutional account for Centennial. They will want to know the following information: a. How many sub-accounts you want set up. They can always add more, if necessary, so you might want to just start with 335. The number of sub-accounts does not affect price. b. Names and email addresses of any instructors who already have individual accounts (Al Lancaric, Rob Ristau, maybe others?). iATN will change their account details so that they’ll be automatically included under your institutional account. Note that refunds are not offered to individual members in this case. c. Indicate that you want the invoice sent to OCLS and that our address must appear on the invoice instead of yours. (We require this in order to process the invoice for payment, but the default system behaviour is to print your address, so you’ll have to ensure they make the change manually.) 3. Once iATN receives payment, they will turn your free account into the master account for Centennial. You will have to let OCLS know the official start and end dates, so that we can ensure a smooth renewal for you next year.
