Studio Voltaire is looking to recruit a Communications Coordinator to
manage all aspects of the organisations’ communications and to lead with
delivering our audience development strategy.
2014 marks 20 years of Studio Voltaire supporting artists and will represent
a key year for the organisation. Working as part of a small team, the
Communications Coordinator will play an important role in generating
coverage for Studio Voltaire’s ambitious gallery, education and studio
programmes, as well as special fundraising activities, and communicating
to a wider public.
ABOUT STUDIO VOLTAIRE
Studio Voltaire is a leading independent contemporary arts organisation
that exists to support artistic practices and create a space for thinking,
experimentation and reflection; its main activities are the provision of
affordable studios, a renowned programme of exhibitions, performances
and commissions, and a pioneering education programme.
Together, these strands of activity provide a special synergy and
environment for the production, display and dissemination of contemporary
art. Through these contingent parts, we provide multiple entry-points for
audiences through a diversity of practices and programming, fostering
critical engagement with contemporary culture. We place the artist at the
centre of everything we do: providing opportunities to produce work in an
open and discursive environment and allowing a closer relationship
between the artist, production of work and the audience.
PRIMARY ROLE
The Communications Coordinator manages all aspects of Studio Voltaire’s
communications including website/digital content, signage/interpretation,
print material and press liaison.
The Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Director and
General Manager to implement Studio Voltaire’s Audience Development
strategy across all of its programmes, trading and fundraising activities.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
PRESS & COMMUNICATIONS

















Identifying key stakeholders to develop Studio Voltaire’s profile, actively
seeking out opportunities for coverage and forming key relationships in
order to ensure maximum coverage for Studio Voltaire’s activities.
Lead comprehensive press campaigns to secure preview coverage,
opinion/ trend stories, event coverage, round ups and reviews, as well
as wider institutional coverage.
Identify aims and benefits of a potential media partnership, and liaise
with and manage the partnership.
Working with the Director to write copy for press releases and features
Keeping up to date press lists
Monitoring coverage and keeping an up to date press file of all features
Compiling press packs for key exhibitions and events
Organising occasional press events such as launches, exhibition tours
and previews
Manage image archive and work with the Programme Coordinator to
coordinate documentation
Developing Studio Voltaire’s website and updating all content (including
implementing Search Engine Optimisation)
Managing all aspects of Studio Voltaire’s brand and identity including
liaising with designers
Compiling all printed material including press releases, exhibition hand
outs and invitations
Working with the Programme Coordinator to produce gallery and
building signage
Compiling occasional adverts and announcements
Coordinating and compiling email newsletters
Managing and updating external exhibition listings information
Managing Studio Voltaire’s social media presence with input from the
Studio Voltaire team to generate stories and increase following
AUDIENCE DEVELOPMENT






Working with the Director and General Manager to devise a strategy to
increase visitors for Studio Voltaire’s gallery programme and associated
events
Working with the Director and General Manager to increase Studio
Voltaire’s profile within its neighbourhood in the borough of Lambeth
including attracting local visitors, identifying marketing opportunities with
local businesses and forming relationships with local press
Working with the General Manager to devise and conduct visitor
questionnaires
Working with the General Manager to ensure that visitor numbers and
data are clearly documented
Monitoring online audience data via Google analytics
Compiling occasional reports and contributing to Studio Voltaire’s
annual review and business plan
