About Us The Private Diagnostic Clinic (PDC) is the faculty practice of Duke Medicine. It is one of the first and the largest academic multi-specialty group practices in the United States. As a professional limited liability company (PLLC), the PDC owns and operates primary care and specialty care clinics in 10 counties in central and eastern North Carolina and southern Virginia. Through a diverse and integrated network of providers, patients have convenient, accessible and high quality primary and specialty care close to home. In addition to patient care, PDC members conduct cutting-edge research and train the future health care workforce as faculty in the Duke University School of Medicine. The PDC collaborates with other entities within the Duke University Health System to expand opportunities and advance Duke's clinical, research and academic missions. The PDC Fellowship The PDC Fellowship Program offers career development opportunities to qualified individuals interested in expanding their knowledge of and gaining experience in health care delivery. The program exposes fellows to operational, financial, contracting and clinical care delivery within an independent, integrated multi-specialty physician practice with more than 1,500 physician members and 78 clinics at Duke, in Durham and throughout central and eastern North Carolina. First Year During the first year, fellows spend their time rotating though the clinical and administrative departments of the PDC, as well as Duke University and Duke Health System. During these rotations, fellows have the opportunity to shadow senior administrators and gain a comprehensive understanding of the PDC and its strategic initiatives. PDC leadership will meet with each fellow on a monthly basis to ensure they are achieving the goals of the fellowship. Second Year During the second year, fellows select an area of the PDC to work in based on career interests, organizational priorities, and mentoring opportunities. In this more focused year, the fellow becomes a member of the management team, developing experience in all aspects of the healthcare administration. PDC leadership continues to meet with each fellow on a monthly basis.
