It serves the dioceses and the bishops by providing advice and consultancy on ministry, overseeing a national process of selection for candidates and quality assurance of their training and supporting dioceses in their strategic planning for ministry. Its vision is for transforming ministry for mission and growth and its values are based in working collaboratively to offer a constructive, professional and expert service to the dioceses. JOB SUMMARY: The role of the IME Pathways Adviser is to work with Dioceses and TEIs to advise on personal formation pathways for individual candidates and the whole cohort and to develop policy around pathways to be used in ministerial education. The Adviser will lead on the development of the Common Awards and on work for improvement in educational provision IME 1 and 2 in consultation with Dioceses and TEIs. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. To liaise at senior level with bishops and DDOs about personal formation pathways for individual candidates in training through consultation with the 42 Dioceses and 23 TEIs. 2. To give expert advice and consultancy to Dioceses and TEIs on bringing together policy, assessment of educational need and the capacity of candidates. 3. To lead for the Division in developing the national and regional processes which monitor and review pathway choice and the consequent financial implications and quality assurance issues 4. To lead on developing policy around the use and choice of pathways both for individuals and for the current and future cohorts. 1 5. To lead in developing the working relationship between the Dioceses, TEIs, Ministry Division and Durham University for the improvement of the Common Awards and the quality of ministerial education. 6. To support the network of 42 diocesan IME 2 Officers and to develop with them high quality accredited or non-accredited education for ministers in their first post, including the use of Common Awards modules for IME 2 amongst Dioceses and TEIs. 7. To provide guidance on and promote good practice for training and assessment in IME 2. 8. To carry out any other duties as required. PERSON SPECIFICATION: Essential: Education/Experience: Degree or equivalent in theology or in a related educational field Recent experience as an adult educator in vocational higher education (HE) or professional development or diocesan ministerial formation Knowledge: Current knowledge of HE validated theological education and ministerial formation and the ability to articulate a convincing theological vision for them Skills/Aptitudes: Skilled in developing partnerships, encouraging networks and working in teams Able to think and work strategically and to develop effective policy in the light of data and research Excellent communication skills including oral and written communication. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Starting Salary: Salary starts at the probationary point of £33,932 per annum. On satisfactory completion of the probationary period the salary will rise to the standard point for the band £37,131 per annum. Pension Contributions: Non-clergy staff will be admitted to the Church Administrators Pension Fund (CAPF, DC Section). Clergy already in the Church of England Funded Pensions Scheme (CEFPS) will have the option of either remaining in this scheme or joining the CAPF scheme. There is no contracting – out certificate under the Pension Schemes Act 1993 in force for this employment in relation to the CAPF and CEFPS. Both CAPF and CEFPS members are contracted-in to the State Second Pension. Hours of Duty: Normal hours of work are 35 per week, Monday to Friday with an hour’s unpaid break for lunch. 3 Annual Leave: 25 days paid leave per leave year. This is exclusive of public holidays and additional holidays approved by your employer. Season Ticket Loan: Staff are eligible to apply for an interest-free travel season ticket loan for their journey to and from work.
