AARP WOMEN’S SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
ELIGIBILITY: The scholarship offers funding opportunities to women age 40 and older.who are seeking new
job skills, training, or educational opportunities but have limited financial resources are encouraged to apply.

BUSINESS & PROFESSIONAL WOMEN'S FOUNDATION (BPWF) EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must demonstrate critical financial need; be 25 or older; be a U.S. citizen; be
officially accepted into a program of study at an accredited U.S. institution; be graduating within 12 to 24
months of the time they apply for a scholarship; be receiving a degree at the conclusion of their studies; be
acquiring marketable skills that will increase their economic security; and be entering the work force after they
receive their degree or certificate.
AMOUNT OF AWARDS: Varies from $500-$1,000.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applicants must initially request a pre-screening application form. This form is
available only between October and April. Requests for the pre-application screening form received before
October or after April will not be accepted. April 15 is the deadline for receipt of applications.

CLAIROL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
ELIGIBILITY: Available to women 30 years of age or older who are U.S. citizens and are continuing
postsecondary education to achieve career goals or retain for better jobs.
AMOUNT OF AWARDS: Scholarships up to $1,000 are available for full- or part-time study in vocational
schools, undergraduate college degree programs, or graduate work at the master's or professional level.

PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP FOR GRADUATE STUDY
ELIGIBILITY: Scholarship is for a professional member with a BA or BS and two years membership. A
recipient, who must be an NFPW member, is chosen on the basis of academic and professional performance,
career and financial need. The scholarship is paid to the university of their choice to apply toward tuition
and/or other costs.
AMOUNT OF AWARDS: $1,000.

SOROPTIMIST INTERNATIONAL OF THE AMERICAS TRAINING AWARDS PROGRAM
TYPE: Awards program to aid mature women who must enter or return to the job market.
ELIGIBILITY: The applicant has to be the head of her household or have a family financially dependent upon
her. She needs specific educational training for entry or re-entry into the labor market. She needs to show
financial need and is entering vocational or technical training or is completing an undergraduate degree.
AMOUNT OF AWARDS: $500 from Soroptimist International of Laramie, her application will compete for
an additional award from the Rocky Mountain Region for $5,000 and one $10,000 national level will also be
awarded.

ZONTA INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION AMELIA EARHART FELLOWSHIP AWARDS
ELIGIBILITY: A woman must have a bachelor’s degree in a qualifying area of science or engineering which is
closely related to advanced studies in the aerospace-related sciences. A superior academic record and evidence
of potential at a recognized institution of higher learning as demonstrated by transcripts, recommendations
and acceptance or verification by an institution of higher learning with accredited courses in aerospace related
studies. Completion of one year of graduate school at a well-recognized institution of higher learning or
evidence of a well-defined research and development program as demonstrated by publications or a senior
research project. Elements of application are: biographical information; list of schools attended and degrees
received; transcripts of grades; employment history; plans for intended study; essay on academic and
professional goals; photograph; and three recommendations from teachers (or supervisors). Information other
than transcripts and recommendations must be limited to the space provided; attachments will not be
considered.
AMOUNT OF AWARDS: The Fellowship of $6,000 may be used at any university or college offering
accredited post-graduate courses and degrees. Students must be registered in a Ph.D./doctoral program when
funds are received. Current fellows may apply to renew the Fellowship for a second year and will undergo the
same application and evaluation procedures as first-time applicants.

MARY MEAD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AND GRADUATE FELLOWSHIP
FOR WOMEN IN AGRICULTURE
ELIGIBILITY: Established by her children, Matt, Brad, and Muffy, this scholarship honors Mary Mead's lifelong involvement with the Wyoming livestock industry. The scholarship benefits women undergraduate and
graduate students within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

SCHANTZ FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP FOR WOMEN IN AGRICULTURE
ELIGIBILITY: This scholarship was developed to honor Alice and Joachim Schantz, children of immigrants
who homesteaded in rural North Dakota. Mr. and Mrs. Schantz were raised during the Depression years and
became a World War II couple. They raised their children using rural family values. Their daughter, Rhoda
Schantz, is currently an Associate Professor of Food Science and Human Nutrition in the College of Agriculture
and Natural Resources. The awardee of this scholarship will be an incoming female Freshman or incoming
Female transfer student declaring a major and enrolling in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources
who has a farm and or ranch background.

promising women architectural engineering students to pursue their degrees. Her family would like the Julie

ELIGIBILITY: Emily Smith was a 1983 graduate of University of Wyoming and a varsity letter winner in
volleyball and softball. Her zest for life, boundless energy, and enthusiasm greeted those she met. This
scholarship honors her memory, while acknowledging a female, Wyoming high school graduate with
outstanding academic credentials, who is involved in a variety of extracurricular activities and
organizations. The Emily J. Smith Scholarship is awarded annually to a female Physical Education Teaching
major who is a Wyoming high school graduate, has a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, has completed a
minimum of 30 credit hours, demonstrates outstanding curriculum oriented achievements, and is active in
related professional organizations.
