treatments
What is cellulite?
Cellulite is comprised of deposits of fat and other material trapped in pockets of
connective tissue beneath the skin. It causes progressive dimpling, often referred to
as having an orange peel or cottage cheese appearance. It can effect women of all
ages, shapes and sizes. Cellulite is not selective in what body it resides. About 90
% of women are affected by it, after they reach puberty.
Why are women prone to develop cellulite?
Women’s skin is built differently than men’s, to help them to store fat during pregnancy and
breast feeding and also to allow the skin to expand during these times. When oestrogen levels
fluctuate in the body, the skin will retain fluid, connective tissue in the skin hardens, blood,
and lymphatic circulation is decreased, and fat cell storage is favoured, causing the
development of cellulite. Lifestyle can also influence cellulite.

What is the Spectrim Contour + ?
A:
The Spectrim is a body contouring system that utilises four separate technologies
which are Bipolar RF, Near-infrared Laser 940nm, Vacuum and a Roller Massage
Mechanism. The combination of these technologies effectively promotes metabolism
of lipocyte and fibre cells which produce effective results for body contouring, cellulite
reduction, smoothing of fine lines on the face, the reduction of bags under the eyes,
crow’s feet and general firming of the skin.

How does it work?
A:
Body Area – The near-infrared Laser 940nm enhances flexibility of skin and
promotes collagen reconstruction. The bipolar RF and infra-red laser heat
subcutaneous fat to shrink lipocytes. Vacuum and Roller Massage promotes
metabolism of fat and increases the oxygen content of blood.
Skin Firming - Near-infrared Laser 940nm rebuilds collagen and elastin fibres to
reduce wrinkles. Bipolar RF heats subcutaneous fat and drives lymph movements
with vacuum.

What does the Contour+ do?
A:
Skin tightening, reduction of blackness around eyes, eye pouch reduction, cellulite
reduction, wrinkle reduction, lipolysis, body shaping/contouring, improves stretch
marks and relieves muscle pain.
Q:
If I have injectable fillers can I undergo treatment?
A:
No, The products used in fillers are susceptible to heat.

If I have silica gel fillers can I undergo treatment?
A:
No, Silica can be affected by heat.
Q:
Do metal or porcelain fillings affect treatment?
A:
It depends on the individual and their tolerance to pain. It helps if you put cotton
over the teeth below the area being treated.

If I have sensitive skin can I undergo a treatment?
A:
It is up to the individual.

If I have facial neuritis can I undergo a treatment?
A:
No, it would be too painful but you can seek doctor’s approval

How long after a wound has healed can I undergo a treatment?
A:
It depends on the depth of the wound, but generally one to three months after the
wound has healed as the underlying tissue needs to repair itself.

Can I have treatment after Botox?
A:

How many treatments are required?
A:
Body Area - ten treatments, up to two times per week.
Face & Eye Area - ten treatments, once per week.

How long does it take to perform one treatment?
A:
Body Area - 30 to 60 minutes
Eye Area - 15 minutes
Face – 20 - 30 minutes

What does it feel like to have a treatment?
A:
You will feel warmth in the area being treated but in general the Contour+ treatment
can be described as quite pleasant. If you feel any discomfort at any time you should
communicate this to your therapist.

What results can I expect after having treatment?
A:
Body: Very often there are no visible results immediately after treatment and it can
take up to two days for the results from the treatment to show. Most people will see
a result after the first treatment but for optimal results you really need to have ten
treatments and help your therapist by drinking plenty of water and modifying your
eating habits. It is possible to get some bruising after treatment but this will clear in
a matter of days.
Eyes: Usually the black circles and wrinkles around the eyes are improved
immediately. A few people experience mild oedema which will disappear within 2 to
3 days.
Face: Fine lines can disappear very quickly but deeper wrinkles will take several
treatments before you see any noticeable results. Your skin will tighten as the
treatments progress and you should see an improvement in skin tone.

What can I expect after a treatment?
A:
You will find that you will need to urinate quite often after a body treatment. This is
because the Spectrum Contour+ increases the metabolism of adipose tissue; the
dissolved lipocytes are absorbed by your lymph system and expelled through your
urine.
Mild swelling of the face after treatment along with redness is possible. Some
bruising of the treated area is also possible.

What happens to my skin?
A:
The effect on oily skin is more obvious than that of dry skin. The fibre of dry skin
shrinks so drink lots of water to replenish dry skin before and after treatment to make
treatment more effective. We recommend you drink at least 2 to 3 litres of water
daily for 3 consecutive days before and after treatment.

When will I see results?
A:
The effect of the treatment will be very apparent in 1 to 2 months. You can expect to
see that you are firmer and more toned. Most people report almost immediate
improvements in both face and body after the first treatment but the results will get
better after several treatments.

You can expect the results to last up to 6 months.

Are there any dangers having treatments using the Contour+
A:
The Contour+ is very safe. Each of the treatments have been available
independently in beauty for years now and there have been no reported adverse
reactions to RF, infra-red laser, vacuum and massage treatments. .
Q:
Why does my body feel heat from the inside?
A:
The Contour + adopts bipolar RF technology. The working depth of the RF is 5mm –
20mm below the skin, therefore the heat dissipates slowly from the fat and you can
feel heat for 30 – 60 minutes after a treatment.

What are the precautions after I have a treatment?
A:
Avoid excessive sun exposure in the treated area for one week and do not jump into
a cold pool for at least 4 hours after treatment.

Can I be treated during my menstrual cycle?
A:
Yes but your pain tolerance is lower during your cycle so you may wish to avoid
treatment during this time.

Is there any downtime after treatment?
A:
No. You can continue with normal activities immediately after treatment.

Can I consume food immediately before or after the Spectrim Contour+
treatment?
A:
It is best if you avoid eating at least two hours before and after the treatment.
