Pastor Paul and Dixie Phillips
were living in Pine Bluff,
Arkansas, when they accepted
the Call to pastor the Gospel
Lighthouse Church in in Floyd,
Iowa, in August of 1981.
Desiring a Christian education
for their own children and the
children of their church,
Lighthouse Academy opened its
doors in August of 1988. The
Phillips had a dream to bring
southern gospel music to
northern
Iowa,
and
in
September of 1995, the Gospel
Lighthouse Church hosted the
first Floyd Gospel Sing. Each
year, the financial resources
from the Sing have helped keep
tuition costs low and provided a
quality, affordable Christian
education for many families. All
proceeds from the Sing, after
expenses have been paid, go to
Lighthouse Academy.
