Job Specification: The Old Market, Hove Marketing Manager Date advertised: 30th June 2015 The Old Market is Hove’s independent theatre and venue. Since opening in 2011, we have presented an ever-expanding programme of innovative theatre, live music and comedy, the quality of which earns us both regular audiences and local support. The Old Market is seeking a highly motivated, positive and forward thinking Marketing Manager to join our small office team. You will be responsible for the development, delivery and evaluation of the venue’s marketing, sales, PR and audience development strategies. Day-to-day tasks are wide-ranging, but will include organizing and presenting event information, liaising with promoters and artists, devising and implementing promotional campaigns and managing staff. This position is a key role within The Old Market, and presents an ideal opportunity for someone who’s ambitious to progress their arts marketing career. Responsible to: Artistic Director & General Manager Responsible for: Marketing Assistant Hours: 40 hours per week inclusive of lunch breaks. No overtime is payable, but time off in lieu will be given, where possible. Holidays: 20 days per annum + 8 days public holidays Salary: £21 - £24K range, per annum depending on experience Responsibilities and Objectives Setting the long-term marketing strategy, analysing the marketplace and seeing opportunities for growth. Setting the annual budget and maintaining accurate financial reporting for the marketing department. Booking and negotiating all appropriate advertising and poster displays, managing the supply of print and managing street teams to distribute flyers. Assisting the Artistic Director and Programmer in programming decision-making for future seasons, providing relevant marketing input. Creating and developing all social media strategies. Implementing the day-to-day delivery of marketing and promotional activities for The Old Market and the artistic programme. Creating promotional campaign plans for all shows at The Old Market. Actively supporting the rest of the team, occasionally including a customer facing role. PERSON SPECIFICATION Essential Experience/Skills: Demonstrable experience of successful creative marketing and strategic planning within the arts/culture sectors. Experience of setting, managing and meeting targets and deadlines. Experience of creating and managing budgets. Proven ability in achieving media coverage. Understanding of operational systems including data capture and analysis methods. Excellent written and verbal English language and proof-reading skills Knowledge of software & systems including: Wordpress CMS; email newsletter editors; Adobe design software, such as Photoshop; database software; Apple Mac OS. Awareness of The Old Market, its recent history, ethos and activities. Personal and Professional Qualities: Organised and methodical with ability to multitask across several projects. Ability to thrive in fast paced and demanding environment. Able to work to tight deadlines. Clear and courteous communicator. Flexible attitude towards work.
