Subject:- Rejoinder of News clipping captioned as “Dabodia’s men were killed with ice-picks and surgical blades” published in the newspaper –“Hindustan Times, dated 28.08.15” on page 3. Sir, It is being brought to your notice that information regarding a quarrel amongst prisoners in a moving jail van enroute from Rohini Court to Tihar Jail, near West Enclave, Pitampura, was received in Outer District on 25/8/15 at 1646 hours. SHO/Mangol Puri and local police staff from PS Mangol Puri rushed to the spot, but the jail van had already been taken to Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital by the driver, which is about 2 km from the initial spot from where the incident was reported. Immediately, SHO/Mangol Puri and staff of PS Mangol Puri, as well as, several PCR Vans reached Bhagwan Mahavir Hospital and secured the jail van by cordoning it. Initially, the bodies of the deceased were removed from the jail van. Subsequently, remaining prisoners were taken out of the prisoners’ compartment of the jail van one by one under proper security and were thoroughly searched and examined by the police team and then by the medical team of the hospital. Their clothes and even their shoes were seized as evidence. During the thorough searching and frisking of the prisoners, no weapon or instrument from their personal possession was recovered. Later on, a team of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) Rohini, conducted a detailed inspection of the jail van to collect scientific evidence. During the search and inspection by the FSL team also, no instrument or weapon such as ice-pick or surgical blade was recovered from the jail van, as has been erroneously reported in your news article. The post mortem of the deceased was conducted by a Board of Doctors in Maulana Azad Medical College, on 26/8/15. The report of the post mortem examination is awaited. A case vide FIR No. 1683/15 u/s 302/120B/34 IPC dated 25/8/15 has been registered at PS Mangol Puri. Seven UTPs namely Neeraj Sehrawat @ Neeraj Bawania, Naveen @ Bali, Naveen @ Bhanja, Rahul @ Kala, Dinesh, Sunny & Sunil have been arrested in the case for the murder of Pradeep @ Bhola and Vikram @ Paras @ Goldy. Further investigation is on. It is needless to say that such unverified and incorrect news items hampers the progress of investigation and create legal complications. It is also pertinent to mention that the accused may try to take benefit of such reports during trial. In view of the above stated facts, it is requested that our rejoinder may kindly be published with the same prominence in your newspaper as was given to the news-item in question so that esteemed readers of your newspaper get to know accurate facts in the matter.
