17th Annual “Art on the Avenue” to Feature Curated Art Gallery and Damien Hirst

Saturday, November 16th Avenue CDC will host its 17th Annual “Art on the Avenue” at
Winter Street Studios. The event, which features a silent auction of work from over 250
Houston artists, is the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year. This year’s festivities
will include a fine art gallery curated by Rice Gallery Director Kimberly Davenport and a
raffle of a framed print from acclaimed British print master Damien Hirst. Art on the
Avenue is supported by dynamic Houston community leaders including Honorary
Chairman Steve Stephens, President of Amegy Bank, and Mayor Annise Parker, who
serves as an Honorary Committee member.
Renowned, Italian born artist Nicola Parente will host the Preview Party on Thursday,
November 14th from 6-9pm. The party will include live music from Two Star Symphony,
delicacies from Cuchara, Beavers, Café Brussels and Jenni’s Noodle House and the
first chance to place “Buy Now” bids for art pieces. The main event will commence on
Saturday, November 16th from 6-10pm with music from Texas Johnny Boy. Guests to
this year’s event will have their pick of fantastic original art including painting, sculpture
and jewelry pieces. Beyond Art will give guests the chance to bid on fabulous silent
auction packages including travel, dinners, entertainment, spa experiences and more.
Avenue CDC is a non-profit organization dedicated to revitalizing Houston’s Washington
Avenue and Near Northside communities by developing affordable housing and
economic opportunities, while preserving the area’s economic, cultural and historical
diversity.

services to more than 600 families each year, and its programs help create jobs and

and 140,000 square feet of commercial space.
